Go in peace to love and serve the Lord.
Due to the broken heating system in the Church, the PCC voted to move our Sunday services into the Main Hall for the month of February. This was extended for March. We will return to the Church for worship on Sunday 30th March for Mothering Sunday.
On Tuesday 1st April at 2.00pm in the Main Hall, there is to be a charity Tea and Talk event. The featured talk is to be Hassocks and Haystacks, a meander through the history of the village of St Peter-in-Thanet, followed by tea, coffee and cake. Admission is by donation to Pilgrims Hospices, ShelterBox and Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex (KSS). Bookings are available through the Parish Office.
We will be providing tea and cakes after the Tea and Talk event on Tuesday 1st April. If anyone can make some cake for that day it would be most welcome. Thank you. Please contact Sylvia Mills.

Notice of Preparation of a New Electoral Roll – Every Parish Church in the Church of England has an electoral roll. Simply put, it is a list of people who are connected with, or a part of St Peter-in-Thanet Church, perhaps by attending worship or living nearby. It is a helpful record of who and how many people are connected with each Parish Church. Under Church Representation Rules a New Church Electoral Roll is prepared every six years, and it’s time for a new one in 2025. Every person who wishes to have their names entered on this Roll, whether it is already entered on the Roll or not, is requested to apply for enrolment, not later than Thursday 1st May. Forms are available by the South Door of the Church and in the Parish Office. Richard Baker, Electoral Roll Officer.
If you would like to take part in the Quiz Night on Friday 2nd May or, even better, can put a team together, please contact the Parish Office. Our tables can take up to eight or so contestants and teams compete with each other for first place in the contest so, if you have a team already or can assemble one, please come along. There will also be a raffle, tickets for which are sold at the event. You can book by contacting the Parish Office and we hope we get as good turnout as we have for past quizzes. We look forward to seeing you there.
St Peter’s Woman’s Group meets on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month in the Portland Centre at 7.30pm. Come along as a member’s guest or join us and see if you enjoy the evening and would like to attend more often.
St Peter’s Toddler Group meets during term time on Thursday mornings from 9.30am-11.00am in the Main Hall. We are always looking for more volunteers to support this great community group, so if you are able to spare a couple of hours every month please let either Rev’d Matt know or Laura in the Parish Office.
Working with our Young People – We are currently prayerfully considering what we might be able to provide for our young people, particularly those aged 10-18 years. If you have a heart for working with this age group and would like to be involved in some discussions about the future, please speak to Rev’d Matt about it.
Charity Partners for 2025 – Thank you to all those who wrote to suggest charities for us to partner with in 2025. A small group met to discuss all the suggestions, and we have decided that for the forthcoming year the chosen charities will be the Pilgrims Hospices, ShelterBox and our Children and Young People’s Choice, Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex (KSS). More details on events and ways to support will follow in due course.
Thanet Food Link – Our Church has a permanent collection point for the foodbank, which you can use to donate 365 days a year. Currently, their most needed items are: tinned tomatoes, tinned soup, tinned fruit, tinned vegetables, cereal, pasta, rice, biscuits, tea bags (box of 80), coffee instant (100g jar). Thank you.
Rough Sleeping; The Homeless – Thank you very much for the gifts that you have given which are greatly appreciated by The Salvation Army. I am collecting gifts such as scarfs, gloves, hats and any thermal clothing which I will take to The Salvation Army in Ramsgate. There is a box in our Church next to the food donations. Homelessness and Rough Sleeping are ongoing problems in our society. If you have a particular concern about a rough sleeper, you can phone (01843) 577277. Thank you. There is something for children every Sunday at St Peter’s! Children’s Church runs on the 1st, 3rd and 4th Sundays (and 5th Sunday when this occurs); featuring stories, crafts, games and songs. It takes place during the main Sunday service for all children aged 2+ (any under 2’s are welcome too but need to be accompanied by an adult). The group will go out during the first hymn and return for Holy Communion. Then on the 2nd Sunday of the month we have Sunday Praise – a relaxed, all age service for everyone (where our children stay in the Church throughout). We look forward to welcoming you!
Morning Prayer is held via Zoom on Monday mornings at 9.15am. For the Zoom link, please contact Rev’d Alice at revalice@stpeterinthanet.org.uk .

Julian Prayer Meetings – While the Church continues to have no heating, we will meet in Church in the Choir Vestry which is warmer, not in St John’s Chapel as previously. Please enter the Church as usual via the South Door, continue straight across and go through the North Door ahead of you, and follow the signs towards the toilet. Meetings are held on the 4th Wednesday of the month at 2.00pm, the next one being on Wednesday 23rd April. This is largely a time of silent prayer and reflection, beginning with a reading from Julian of Norwich’s Revelations of Divine Love and ending with tea and biscuits. It is led by Rev’d Alice and everyone is welcome. Further details from Rev’d Alice on 07790 903316.
We are now able to accept debit/credit card donations. If you are a taxpayer and can Gift Aid your donation, please complete a yellow envelope, in church, with your details and hand this to the person operating the card reader or contact the Parish Office for more information. Thank you!
