On Wednesday 13th April at 6.30pm we will be holding a Seder Meal (Passover Supper) in the Main Hall. During this meal we will participate in history’s most ancient and continually observed festival. We shall participate in the Exodus from Egypt and we will recall that Jesus observed Passover with his disciples on the night before he died. You are all most welcome. There is no charge (donation plate instead) but we do need numbers by Thursday 7th April. Please phone Rev Jan (01843) 869169, or email the vicar

St Peter’s Women’s Group – The last meeting this term will take place on Tuesday 5th April when Linda Hirst Cohen, a member of the group, will pass on her wealth of knowledge in a talk entitled A Gardener’s Tail. I am looking forward to learning lots of useful tips. We meet in the Portland Centre, tea, coffee and biscuits are available and a raffle. Thank you, Gill Lovelock, Chair and Secretary.
Christian Aid Plant Stall – We are planning to hold a Christian Aid Plant Stall outdoors at St Peter’s on Saturday 30th April. FUNDRAISING
The Boot Fair held on Saturday 19th March raised more than £386.00. Many thanks again to all those who made this great result possible.
Quiz Night – CANCELLED – Our next Quiz Night was to have taken place on Saturday 2nd April. However, our Quizmaster, Jane Green, recently contracted COVID-19 and this quiz will not now take place as planned. If you have already booked a table and paid the booking fee, you can reclaim the fee by applying to the Parish Office. I’m very sorry to have to make this announcement, but there was really no choice. When a new date for a quiz can be arranged, I will let everyone know. Sorry again for any inconvenience which may have been caused.
We are rather short of Raffle Prizes now and as we plan to run raffles at the Summer Fête, we would be very grateful for anything which you could donate. Please bring any contributions to the Parish Office.
RELAUNCH of Loose Change Boxes – Now that we are getting back to some normality, we would like to relaunch this scheme. Find out more here.
Thanet Food Link – Thank you so much for all those who give so generously to this food bank. The coordinator has said that present shortages are: tinned tomatoes, tinned soup, tinned fruit, tinned vegetables, cereal, pasta, rice, biscuits, tea bags (box of 80), coffee instant (100g jar). Also needed are toiletries (toothpaste, toothbrushes, shower gel and shampoo). Items can be left in Church on a Sunday 9.30am – 11.00am or Wednesday morning 10.00am – 12 noon. Thank you, Rev Jan.
Thanet Shelter and Support – This is the name now of what we used to call Thanet Winter Shelter. There is funding until the end of March for the Shelter and hopefully beyond. Support is offered to those homeless who are trying to move on in other accommodation. Support is also offered to rough sleepers by the Salvation Army who distribute a hot meal and warm clothing etc.. The nights are still cold so your gifts are very valuable. Please continue to give razors, warm gloves, hats, socks, thermals, sachets of powdered drinks and snacks that can be eaten in the daytime. There are still homeless on the streets of Thanet. I collect from the box in the Church porch. Thank you for your help. June Binfield, junebinfield@outlook.com or (01843) 861286 or 07711072233.
Missing – Can you help to be the ears and eyes of our Church family? Do you care about those around you? If the answer is yes, then next time you’re in Church look around you. If a familiar face has been missing for some weeks do something about it, make enquiries, make a phone call mention it to someone – THIS IS NOT BEING NOSEY but showing concern for our Church family. Next time it could be you missing from that pew – I WONDER IF ANYONE WOULD CARE?
Face Coverings – Although it is not now compulsory to wear a face covering in Church, I would like to encourage you all to keep wearing them, including whilst singing. Those receiving Holy Communion will need to wear one at the altar rail. Thank you for your cooperation.
