Go in peace to love and serve the Lord.
St Peter’s Toddler Group will be closed on Thursday 26th October and will return following the half-term break on Thursday 2nd November.
CHOIR SOS: We are once again inviting you to join us for our annual Festive singing. We need altos and tenors in particular.
A Time to Remember – If you have had the funeral of a close member of your family held at or through St Peter’s Church, or a Service in the Churchyard or Garden of Remembrance, you and any of your family and friends who might like to come with you are invited to attend a special annual service to commemorate those who have died in recent years. This annual service, to be held at St Peter’s Church at 4.00pm on Sunday 5th November is an opportunity to remember and give thanks for members of our families who are no longer with us. The service will include familiar hymns, prayers of comfort; and loved ones will be remembered by name. There will also be an opportunity to light a candle in memory of those you have loved who have died. If you would like the name of your loved one to be read out during the service, please provide Laura in the Parish Office with details. Following the service, refreshments will be served in Church. Do join us – all are welcome.
With Christmas rapidly approaching, this is another appeal for items for this year’s stall at the Festive Fayre which is taking place on Saturday 25th November. Anything Christmassy – unwanted baubles, tinsel, wreaths, trees, lights, gifts, candles, etc., etc., etc. would be greatly appreciated. Items can be collected if necessary (ring Sue Barker – 07887361249) or left at the Parish Office. Thank you.
Christmas Tree Festival – 8th, 9th and 10th December – Please would any group who would like to take part and decorate a tree, contact Sue Brooks by 6th November to register their interest. The theme this year is “Joy to the World”. I will confirm costs and all necessary details when I know the numbers involved. Thank you. Sue Brooks, s.brooks231@btinternet.com or (01843) 604700 (answerphone always available).
Church Cleaning – Several of our regular cleaners have moved away, or are no longer able to help. We have previously split the cleaning into sections, with one person responsible for their part. Cleaning is usually done on a Friday morning, but access can be arranged to suit individuals. Depending on Church use, cleaning does not have to be done every week. Please help if you can to keep our lovely Church clean and tidy. Please contact Richard or Edwina Baker on (01843) 865090 if you can help. Thank you.
Thanet Food Link – Thank you so much for all those who give so generously to this food bank. Items can be left in Church on a Sunday 9.30am – 11.00am or Wednesday morning 10.00am – 12 noon. Please would you bring donations of food into Church and not leave them in the South Porch. The baskets are in Church on the pews behind the information shelf, on the South side. This has become necessary because of recent thefts. Thank you. Sylvia Mills.
Rough Sleeping; The Homeless – As the colder weather approaches, I will start collecting for the rough sleepers. There is a box in the Church Porch. I will take your gifts to The Salvation Army in Ramsgate. Please donate gloves, hats and thick socks. The Salvation Army takes hot soup, food and clothing to rough sleepers and also offers breakfast in its building in Ramsgate. Thanet District Council and the multi-agency Thanet RISE Team will be able to accommodate some of those sleeping rough, but not all (https://www.thanet.gov.uk/info-pages/rough-sleeping/). Helping rough sleepers is complex and takes many small steps as well as some who are very difficult to help. (If you are concerned for someone who is sleeping rough you can report the circumstances to thestreetlink.org.uk/start ). Thank you for your help. June Binfield.
Missing – Can you help to be the ears and eyes of our Church family? Do you care about those around you? If the answer is yes, then next time you’re in Church look around you. If a familiar face has been missing for some weeks do something about it – make enquiries, make a phone call, mention it to someone. THIS IS NOT BEING NOSEY but showing concern for our Church family. Next time it could be you missing from that pew – WOULD ANYONE CARE?
Photographs – Please do not take photos during the service. If you want to take them after the service has finished, please ensure you only take a picture of your own child or family member. Please obtain permission from anyone else before you take their photo. Thank you.

The annual Festive Fayre is approaching fast. It will take place on Saturday 25th November and we are planning the usual range of attractions plus one or two new ones. However, we can’t make the Festive Fayre work without the active help of many in the congregation and so, in a few weeks’ time, I’ll be asking for any clothes, bric-a-brac, books, toys, wool or jewellery (large and expensive diamonds, sapphires and emeralds will be especially welcome of course!!) etc. which you might no longer want or can donate for sale at the Festive Fayre but please – don’t bring anything in yet!!!
To Book – Tickets, etc. for fundraising events can be purchased via the Parish Office, Hopeville Avenue between 9.30am – 12.30pm weekdays. You can also either ring to book – (01843) 866061 or email parishoffice@stpeterinthanet.org.uk Roy Brown, Fundraising Team.

The Monday Home Group meets weekly at 2.30pm at 92 Dumpton Park Drive, Broadstairs, CT10 1RL. We look forward to spending up to an hour and ahalf reflecting on Bible readings heard in Church the previous day; we conclude as always with a cup of tea and prayer. We share insights from a variety of backgrounds and Bible versions – all of which add to our wonder at the God who loves us so much. As each of our meetings is a stand-alone, do join us, even for one session! More details (and/or if you’d like a lift) from Michael and Elspeth Cooke on (01843) 863293.
‘Hour of Prayer’ in Church on Wednesdays 11.00am – 12 Noon – A non-led opportunity to sit quietly with God, to light a candle if you would like to, and – if you feel God has said something to you which you’d like to share – to write that down for others to pray over. Come for as long or as short a time as you like, and be renewed and refreshed by God. Any questions, please contact Rev’d Alice on revalice@stpeterinthanet.org.uk and do come if you can!
The Wednesday Home Group meets monthly and weekly in Advent and Lent. We are looking at encounters between Jesus and people He met. Our next meeting is on 1st November at 2.30 pm at 21 Fig Tree Road, Broadstairs, CT10 3AQ. All are welcome. Please bring a Bible. We read passages from the Bible which illustrate the theme that we are studying. We end with a cup of tea and fellowship. For more information or if you need a lift, please contact junebinfield@outlook.com or (01843) 861286 or 07711 072233.
