The Parish Office is closed and reopens on 4th January 2022.
Parish and Halls Administrator – I am delighted to inform you that we have appointed Laura Kirk as our new Parish and Halls Administrator. Laura’s hours will be Monday to Friday 9.00am – 1.00pm, and she will begin work on 4th January 2022. Laura can be contacted in the Parish Office on (01843) 866061 or by emailing parishoffice@stpeterinthanet.org.uk
Please send items for the Pew Sheet and News Sheet to Deborah at vicarpa@stpeterinthanet.org.uk before 12 noon on the Wednesday before the Sunday you would like them to be considered for inclusion. Thank you.
The revised total for the Afghan Appeal is now £186 which is wonderful. Due to the cancellation of Christmas Services we weren’t able to raise any additional funds for our chosen charities but the collection made at the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols has enabled us to send £120 each to Thanet Food Link and Thanet Winter Shelter, c/o The Salvation Army in Ramsgate. Thank you for all your support.
Monday Lunch Club – We are in desperate need for some more chefs/cooks to help at the Monday Lunch Club. We now only meet on the 1st Monday of every month, so you won’t be required that often. If you think you can help with this, please see me. It would be such a shame if we couldn’t continue this, due to lack of helpers. Thank you, Rev Jan.
St Peter’s Toddlers – Although there is no set date for the group to start, we are delighted to announce that it is hoped that it will start by mid-January. It is to be run by ourselves and the Baptist Church and will be held on a Thursday morning from 9.30am until 11.00am. If you think you could help with this, on a rota basis or would like to be kept updated, please see me or Toni or email stpeterstoddlers@gmail.com Thank you, Rev Jan.
Thanet Food Link – Thank you so much for all those who give so generously to this food bank. The coordinator has said that present shortages are tinned desserts, tinned meat, cereal, biscuits and UHT whole milk 1 litre. Also needed are toiletries (toothpaste, toothbrushes, shower gel and shampoo). Items can be left in Church on a Sunday 9.30am – 11.00am or Wednesday morning 10.00am – 12 noon or at the Vicarage, 14 Vicarage Street, St Peter-in-Thanet, CT10 2SG anytime. Thank you, Rev Jan.
Thanet Winter Shelter – This is open until the end of March and provides an individual room for a number who have been rough sleepers. There are still some rough sleepers and the Salvation Army is offering support by delivering hot evening food and supplies to them. Some afternoon sessions also offer craft and cooking. The number of homeless is increasing with evictions and family breakups. Finding move on accommodation is increasingly difficult. We can help with gifts as we have done previously. Please let’s start with razors, toiletries, warm hats and gloves, which you can leave in the Church porch. Thank you, June Binfield (01843) 861286 / 07711072233 / junebinfield@outlook.com
Zoom Coffee and Chat – Meet on a Monday morning at 11.30am for half an hour. Have your cup of tea or coffee ready, and then we will spend time catching up with friends. Join Rev Jan by emailing vicar@stpeterinthanet.org.uk and she will send you the link. There will be no Coffee and Chat until Monday 17th January 2022.
The Monday Home Group – We are now taking a Christmas break, but expect to resume meeting weekly in January – we’ll give more details nearer the time.
‘Hour of Prayer’ in Church on Wednesdays 11.00am – 12 Noon – Every Wednesday from 11.00am to midday the Church is open for an hour of quiet prayer in the Lady Chapel. It is not ‘led’ in any way, nor do you have to be there for an hour! – come for just a few minutes, or as long as you like. This is an opportunity to sit quietly with God, to light a candle if you would like to, and – if you feel God has said something to you which you’d like to share – to write that down for others to pray over. Either Rev Jan or Rev Alice will be there throughout, and they will be focusing on praying for our community of St Peter’s and the Broadstairs Church of England ‘cluster’ of St Peter’s, St Andrew’s and Holy Trinity; but not exclusively! Do join them for a quiet moment at this busy and uncertain time, and be renewed and refreshed by God. Any questions, please contact Rev Alice on curate@stpeterinthanet.org.uk and do come if you can!
Face Coverings – It is now compulsory to wear a face covering in Church, thank you for your cooperation.
