Please send items for the Pew Sheet and News Sheet to vicarpa@stpeterinthanet.org.uk before 9.00am on Tuesday if you would like them to be considered for inclusion on Sunday 25th September. Please note earlier time.
On Sunday 18th September (today) Rev Jan’s last Holy Communion Service as Vicar of this Parish will take place beginning at 9.30am. This will be followed by a Farewell Reception in the Main Hall. Light snacks and drinks will be available, and Jan will be presented with her gift.
Beginning Monday 3rd October – Our Curate Rev Alice is changing her working days from Sundays, Mondays and Wednesdays to Sundays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Harvest Festival will be celebrated on Sunday 25th September. We will be supporting Thanet Food Link again this year and ask that you bring along items of food for them to the services. Last month they fed over 1000 people. They are very short of pasta, soup, tea/coffee and tinned food. Thank you. Sylvia Mills.
We will be celebrating Harvest Festival with a supper in the Main Hall on Sunday 25th September. Tickets are £7.00 and available to purchase from the Parish Office (open between 9.00am – 12.30pm Monday to Friday). Bring your own drinks. Please advise any dietary requirements when purchasing tickets.
Our next Quiz Night will take place in the Main Hall on the evening of 7th October starting, as usual, at 7.00pm. Jane Green will be officiating and a Fish ‘n Chip supper will be served in the interval. Tickets will be £12.00 each. It is most regrettable that we have had to increase our ticket price to this figure, but this rise has been necessitated by the recent sharp rise in the cost of Fish & Chips. I do hope that it won’t deter you from coming to what has always proved to be a very enjoyable evening for everyone – and the Fish & Chips are delicious too!
The next Boot Fair will run on Saturday 15th October in the Main Hall, starting at 9.00am (sellers set-up from 8.00am). Tables will be £10.00 each. If you know anyone who is likely to be interested, please ask them to contact us at the Parish Office.
Another Beetle Drive will take place on Thursday 27th October in the Main Hall and tea and cake will again be available. Full details to follow.
We are in need of more Raffle Prizes, because the raffles which have run at several of our recent events have run down our supplies and, in addition to our other forthcoming events, the Festive Fayre is bearing down on us again! If you have anything which you can donate, such as some unwanted present or that box of sweets which is sitting there tempting you, when you really need to diet (and don’t we all know what that’s like!), or indeed anything else that you can let us have, please let us know or drop them into the Parish Office.
To Book – Tickets, etc. for all fundraising events can be purchased via the Parish Office, Hopeville Avenue between 9.30am – 12.30pm weekdays. You can also either ring to book – (01843) 866061 or email parishoffice@stpeterinthanet.org.uk Thank you. Fundraising Team.
URGENT REQUEST – We are looking for one or two people to help set up and clear up the Altar for Holy Communion at the 9.30am Service. Gill has been doing this on her own for the past couple of years (with no help) and she cannot continue doing this indefinitely. It is not difficult, and full training will be given. Please do think about helping with this and speak to either Gill or myself for further details. Rev Jan.
“Toddlers need your help” – Do you have a couple of hours to spare a couple of times a month, (term time only)? Do you like to chat and enjoy a cuppa? Toddlers is looking for more volunteers to help chat, sing and engage with our families. No heavy lifting is involved, we just need people who are keen to chat and make families welcome. Please contact Toni on 07811353766 or stpeterstoddlers@gmail.com
Friends of Kent Churches Ride and Stride – Many thanks to those who volunteered to be stewards during the day and were available to welcome participants from all over this part of Kent. Well done, to the members of our Church family who participated and ‘thank you’ to you too – hope you have recovered by now. I will keep you posted later in the year regarding monies raised. As you can imagine, coordination of such a big event takes some time and with that in mind, will our participants please let me have their sponsorship monies collected, as soon as possible. Thank you all, Sally Wood (01843) 862058.
Thanet Food Link – Thank you so much for all those who give so generously to this food bank. The coordinator has said that they are desperately in need of desserts and tinned vegetables. Items can be left in Church on a Sunday 9.30am – 11.00am or Wednesday morning 10.00am – 12 noon, or dropped off at the Vicarage. Thank you, Rev Jan.
Missing – Can you help to be the ears and eyes of our Church family? Do you care about those around you? If the answer is yes, then next time you’re in Church look around you. If a familiar face has been missing for some weeks do something about it, make enquiries, make a phone call mention it to someone – THIS IS NOT BEING NOSEY but showing concern for our Church family. Next time it could be you missing from that pew – I WONDER IF ANYONE WOULD CARE?
Photographs – Please do not take photos during the Service. If you want to take them after the Service has finished, please ensure you only take a picture of your own child or family member. Please obtain permission from anyone else before you take their photo. Thank you.
If you are Chair of one of our Church Committees and have a meeting coming up, please remember to forward details to vicarpa@stpeterinthanet.org.uk so that the details can be included in the Pew Sheet or News Sheet.
