Ian and I are pleased to announce the appointment of our new Priest in Charge. He is Rev’d Matt Hodder, currently a curate in Bexley. He is married to Jen and they have three young children. His installation will be on Sunday 10th September and further details will be available nearer the time. More details can be found in the July edition of St Peter’s Parish Magazine. Sylvia Mills.
Thank you to all the volunteers who make it possible to run St Peter’s Toddler Group but in order to keep the group going forward, more volunteers would be most welcome. If you can spare a couple of hours once or twice a month during term time and would be happy to chat to families and enjoy a cuppa, please let Laura know in the Parish Office. The sessions run on Thursday mornings in the Main Hall. We return from summer break on Thursday 14th September at 9.30am.
Update on Christian Aid Emergency Appeals – Christian Aid has updated its Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal after floods have forced thousands of people to leave their homes after the Nova Kakhovka dam was destroyed. The Turkey and Syria Earthquake Appeal is ongoing as is the East Africa Hunger Crisis Appeal in response to the severe droughts. We would encourage you to make a donation to one of these appeals using the link www.christianaid.org.uk Thank you.
Thanet Food Link – Thank you so much for all those who give so generously to this food bank. Items can be left in Church on a Sunday 9.30am – 11.00am or Wednesday morning 10.00am – 12 noon. Please would you bring donations of food into Church and not leave them in the South Porch. The baskets are in Church on the pews behind the information shelf, on the South side. This has become necessary because of recent thefts. Thank you. Sylvia Mills.
St Peter-in-Thanet Church of England Junior School recently had an Ofsted Inspection and the outcome was that the school was judged to be Outstanding. If you would like to know more about the school, please contact June Binfield, junebinfield@outlook.com or (01843) 861286 or 07711 072233.
Appeal from Sarah Arrowsmith (John Cox’s Daughter) – My husband and I recently joined the Alzheimer’s Society’s ‘Trek26’ in the Brecon Beacons to raise money in John’s name for the Alzheimer’s Society. We have a JustGiving page (link below) and I’m wondering if any members of the congregation who remember Dad might like to donate? Thank you, Sarah.

Missing – Can you help to be the ears and eyes of our Church family? Do you care about those around you? If the answer is yes, then next time you’re in Church look around you. If a familiar face has been missing for some weeks do something about it – make enquiries, make a phone call, mention it to someone. THIS IS NOT BEING NOSEY but showing concern for our Church family. Next time it could be you missing from that pew – WOULD ANYONE CARE?
Photographs – Please do not take photos during the service. If you want to take them after the service has finished, please ensure you only take a picture of your own child or family member. Please obtain permission from anyone else before you take their photo. Thank you.
If you are Chair of one of our Church Committees and have a meeting coming up, please remember to forward details to vicarpa@stpeterinthanet.org.uk so that the details can be included in the Pew Sheet or News Sheet.
Fundraising
This year’s Summer Fête has raised a little under £5000 (the exact figure won’t be available until all expenses have been taken into account). This is a terrific result for the Church and the Fundraising Committee offers very grateful thanks to everyone involved or who helped out in any way. It is always the willing volunteers who make these things work so, again, thank you all for your efforts.
