Christian Aid Week Collection and Climate Justice Petition
The collection at this service will be in support of Christian Aid and you will find red envelopes in your pew with Gift Aid slips for tax payers to use. As we are not able to have a House-to-house collection this year, your generosity is especially appreciated. Thank you.
You will also find a white slip which gives you an opportunity to sign the Christian Aid Climate Justice Petition to the Prime Minister. (We are using individual slips rather than a petition sheet in order to make signing Covid secure). If you are able to sign the petition, please put the slip in the collection basket as you leave at the end of the service.
Zoom Coffee and Chat
With Lockdown still upon us and restrictions placed on our going out and meeting people, I know many of you are missing ‘seeing’ people, so I would like to invite you to a weekly zoom ‘coffee and chat’ for half an hour on a Monday morning at 11:30. Please provide your own tea or coffee and then spend time catching up with friends. All are welcome, please email revjandurrans@gmail.com if you would like to join us, and I will then email you the link. Rev Jan (and Rev Alice).
Parish Administrator
I am delighted to inform you that our new Parish and Community Halls Administrator, Mrs Pauline Petitt, will begin work on Monday 17th May. She will be working mornings (9am – 1pm), Monday – Friday.
Currently the parish office and buildings are closed, but life is slowly returning to normal. I hope that it will not be too long before we can reopen as before.
Thanet Food Link Despite the enormous generosity of so many of you, the stocks at Thanet Food Link are running low, and they are short of the following items: Tinned vegetables, Tinned desserts, Tinned hot dogs, Cereal, Tea & coffee, Juice (1litre). Any donations of the above, or any other non-perishable items would be very much appreciated. If every member of the congregation just added one tin to their weekly food shop, and donated it to the Food Link, it would make an enormous difference to so many families who are really struggling at the moment. Donations can be dropped at: any CO-OP store, St. Peter’s Baptist church 10:30-12:00 Fri, The Vicarage (14 Vicarage Street) anytime, and St Peters church on a Sunday morning (9:30-11am).
The Wednesday Home Group. The Wednesday Home Group will meet on the first Wednesday of the month. The next one will be on the 2nd June which will be via zoom. It may then be possible to meet together in person. Our discussions are Bible based. Everyone is welcome to join us. Rev Alice, (curate@stpeterinthanet.org.uk), will host the zoom meeting and send you a link. You can join from 2pm and post a prayer or request for a prayer on chat. We will begin the meeting at 2.30 pm. Contact for details: junebinfield@outlook.com or 01843 861286 or 07711072233.
The Monday Group continues to meet weekly at 14:30 via Zoom (or phone). We will be sharing in some of the glories and encouragement contained within the Bible Readings heard in Church the previous day. You would be most welcome – even for a one-off – there’s no obligation to have to say anything! After about an hour of reflection and sharing often different insights, we spend some time in prayer together. For more details, please phone Michael Cooke on 863293.
