Next Sunday’s morning service will mark the beginning of Christian Aid Week and the theme of the service will be ‘Climate Justice’. The collection at the service will be in support of Christian Aid and there will be envelopes available with Gift Aid slips for tax payers to use. As we are not able to have a House-to-house collection this year, your generosity is especially appreciated. Thank you.
Morning Prayer
This will be held in church on a Tuesday morning at 9am, as well as via zoom on a Monday and Wednesday morning at 9am. For the zoom link, please contact Rev Alice at curate@stpeterinthanet.org.uk and she will email you the link. Please note there will be NO Morning Prayer on Monday 3rd May as that is a Bank Holiday.
Zoom Coffee and Chat
With Lockdown still upon us and restrictions placed on our going out and meeting people, I know many of you are missing ‘seeing’ people, so I would like to invite you to a weekly zoom ‘coffee and chat’ for half an hour on a Monday morning at 11:30. Please provide your own tea or coffee and then spend time catching up with friends. All are welcome, please email revjandurrans@gmail.com if you would like to join us, and I will then email you the link. Rev Jan (and Rev Alice). Please note there will be NO Coffee and Chat on Monday 3rd May as that is a Bank Holiday.
Quiet Day on Saturday May 22nd 10am – 4pm, on being witnesses here in St Peter’s, coming out of lockdown. Do join Rev Alice, and one another, in the Main Hall to listen for what God might saying to us, both as the people of St Peter’s and the unique, gifted individuals we all are. More details in the May magazine, but do set aside the date – the first Saturday on which we’ll be able to meet together indoors (after May 17th)! We will ensure we do so safely: following a risk-assessment, socially-distanced, sanitiser provided, face-coverings required. Further details from Rev Alice on 07790 903316, or please email her on: curate@stpeterinthanet.org.uk
Do come! We so look forward to seeing you, and to being together again!
PLEASE NOTE: NUMBERS ARE STRICTLY LIMITED TO 30 PEOPLE SO PLEASE BOOK EARLY TO SAVE BEING DISAPPOINTED.
Thanet Food Link Despite the enormous generosity of so many of you, the stocks at Thanet Food Link are running low, and they are short of the following items:
Tinned vegetables, Tinned desserts, Tinned hot dogs, Cereal, Tea & coffee, Juice (1litre). Any donations of the above, or any other non-perishable items would be very much appreciated. If every member of the congregation just added one tin to their weekly food shop, and donated it to the Food Link, it would make an enormous difference to so many families who are really struggling at the moment. Donations can be dropped at: any CO-OP store, St. Peter’s Baptist church 10:30-12:00 Fri, The Vicarage (14 Vicarage Street) anytime, and St Peters church on a Sunday morning (9:30-11am).
The Wednesday Home Group The Wednesday Home Group will meet on the first Wednesday of the month from the 5th May. We will use zoom for this meeting and the one on the 2nd June. It may then be possible to meet together in person. Our discussions are Bible based. Everyone is welcome to join us. Rev Alice, (curate@stpeterinthanet.org.uk), will host the zoom meeting and send you a link. You can join from 2pm and post a prayer or request for a prayer on chat. We will begin the meeting at 2.30 pm. Contact for details: junebinfield@outlook.com or 01843 861286 or 07711072233.
The Monday Group continues to meet weekly at 14:30 via Zoom (or phone). We will be sharing in some of the glories and encouragement contained within the Bible Readings heard in Church the previous day. You would be most welcome – even for a one-off – there’s no obligation to have to say anything! After about an hour of reflection and sharing often different insights, we spend some time in prayer together. For more details, please phone Michael Cooke on 863293.
Can I also remind you that Archdeacon Jo will be joining us, and preaching, on the 23rd May for Pentecost Sunday. Because numbers are so restricted in church at the moment, you will need to book a place for this service. Please either ring me (01843 869169) and leave me a message (if I am not in), or email me (revjandurrans@gmail.com). Thank you.
