Churches Together Prayer Meeting
Thursday 6th September 2018 at St Andrews Church, 7 pm. We will be praying for our schools and everyone involved in the education of our young people.
Monday @ 7.
Our next event is at the Captain Digby, on Monday 10th September at 7pm for a meal together. I look forward to seeing you all there. Any queries, please contact me, Marion Brown on Tel 604524, or marion.biggs@gmail.com
Jam Jars
I am now in need of Jam Jars again, all contributions gratefully received. Also, if anyone would like to donate a bag of sugar, that would be very much appreciated, I get through an enormous amount making jam and chutney, as you can imagine. Many thanks, Marion Brown.
Dates for your diary…
There will be no Taize service on Sunday 16th September as we are all invited to Canterbury Cathedral to see John Cox receive his certificate of ‘Reader Emeritus’ which he will receive from the Bishop in recognition of his many years service. He has finally decided to retire from being a Reader but will continue to lead the occasional Taize and Choral Evensong Service.
My thanks go to John for his support and help to me over the past two years. If you are intending to go please let John know as he has special ‘tickets’ for the refreshments afterwards. Rev Jan
18 September – 7pm Deanery Confirmation service (at St Peter’s Church).

Fundraising Committee Report for Sunday 2nd September
Indoor Boot Fair
Don’t forget the Indoor Boot Fair, which we are running on Saturday 22nd September. There are still some tables left at a rate of £10.00 each and refreshments will also be available. If you or anyone you know, would like to take up a table, please apply to the Parish Office.
Choral Concert
On Saturday 6th October the Thanet Community Gospel Choir and the Kent Show Choir will be taking part in a Concert of Choral Music in St. Peter’s Church. The Concert will begin at 7.30pm and refreshments will be available during the interval. Tickets are priced at £5.50 each and can be bought from the Parish Office. Events of this kind which we have held in the past have proved to be delightful and the 6th October concert promises to be no different. If your friends and family would like to come, then bring them along too! See you there on the night.
Monday Home Group 2:30pm at 92 Dumpton Park Drive, Broadstairs CT10 1RL
After our summer break we restart our regular weekly meetings on Monday 10th September. We spend about an hour reflecting on the Bible Readings heard the previous day in church, and follow this with tea and fellowship. As each week is a therefore “stand-alone”, newcomers to the group are always most welcome. We find it’s a good way of meeting informally for support and encouragement. If you’d like to know more, please do phone Michael or Elspeth on 863293.
Wednesday Home Group
The next few weeks are a bit cluttered so we intend to restart the Home Group on Wednesday 3rd October, 2.30pm, at St Leu.
After a bit of discussion we have decided to meet monthly on the first Wednesday of the month, but weekly during Advent and Lent. Rather than chat about the previous week’s sermon we will aim for a more prepared Bible Study period. In October Charles will focus on Collects and Thomas Cranmer and in November John will look at Saint’s Days, especially St Aidan. For our Advent meetings we are looking at a very recently published book by Tom Wright called ‘Advent for Everyone’. A journey through Luke.
If you want to know more about this and perhaps would like to join us, please ring John on 07989 057737.

We are always SO grateful for the cash donations given each week at services.
If you are a tax payer it would be an even greater benefit if you could put your donation in a completed yellow Gift Aid envelope so that we can recover the extra 25p in every pound given!
