What will you be doing on Sunday 7th June 2020?
I hope that at least some of you will be visiting our THIRD OPEN GARDENS event…
Thanks to the generosity of all you lovely gardeners and attendees so far we have raised over £2,000 from the 2018 and 2019 Open Gardens. We estimate that around eight hundred visitors have enjoyed the gardens over the last two years and we would so love to build on this success.
So once again I am appealing for anyone who would like to share their garden and who lives within St Peter’s village to get in touch with me.
The commitment would only be to open from 1pm to 5 pm on Sunday 7th June 2020. Help with stewarding on the day will be available if required, and publicity and signage will be provided. Please consider if you can help us. We need a minimum of six gardens to make the event viable. THANK YOU If you want to know more or are able to help, please contact me by phone or e mail, or see me at church. Charity coffee pod & crisp packet recycling
I will be collecting crisp packets and Tassimo coffee pods in aid of the Kent air ambulance. They can be given to me at church service or I will leave a box for them to be placed in which will be located in the children’s corner. So far we have collected 600 coffee pods and 1600 crisps packets which have been sent off to raise funds for the air ambulance. Thank you from Toni Lawrence.

Talk – ‘Round the World in a Double Decker Bus’
We still have tickets left for the ‘Round the World in a Double Decker Bus’ event on Thursday 12th March (2.00pm to 4,30pm). The talk will take place in the Main Hall and the speaker is Richard King. In the early ‘70s he and a group of friends bought an old double-decker bus, fitted it out, and drove it round the world! It is not an expedition that could be made now, but conditions were easier forty years ago. Richard now tells of his experiences in a very interesting talk and he is coming to St. Peter’s in March to deliver it for us. Afternoon Tea, with sandwiches and cake, will be served as part of the event and tickets are available now at £10.00 each. You can buy yours by calling at the Parish Office in Hopeville Avenue (opening hours are 9.00am to 1.00pm weekdays) or by telephoning on 01843 866061. The talk is both fascinating and hilarious so note the date in your diary, tell your friends about it and come along.
Boot Fair – Saturday 21st March
The next Boot Fair will take place on Saturday 21st March. Tables are available at £10.00 each and can be hired from the Parish Office (address above).
Quiz Night
The next Quiz Night will take place on Friday 3rd April from 7.00pm to 10.30pm so, if you would like to come along on the night, you might wish to note the date in your diary. Tickets are available at £10.00 each and can be obtained from the Parish office in Hopeville Avenue or by calling 01843 866061. Fish & chips will be served during the interval as usual and these events are usually a lot of fun for everyone so we all hope to see you there.
‘Stabat Mater’ by Giovanni Pergolosi
The Thanet Sinfonia will perform the Giovanni Pergolosi’s Stabat Mater in St. Peter’s Church in Church Road, St. Peters, Broadstairs on the evening of Saturday 4th April. Entry will by donation and the concert will start at 7.30pm. Refreshments, including wine, will be available during the interval. Anyone who has heard the Thanet Sinfonia perform in the past will know how good they are, so it should be a wonderful evening for everyone. For more information, contact the Parish Office.
Monday Home Group 2:30 pm at 92 Dumpton Park Drive, CT10 1RL
Each week during Lent, we are exploring both what we can learn from one of the women mentioned in the Bible – we’ll draw also on inspiration from related art and music – and a thought for the week from Ruth Valerio’s excellent book “Say Yes to Life”. You’d be most welcome to join us – even for a one-off – there’s no obligation to have to say anything! After the hour of reflection, we then enjoy tea and fellowship. For more details, please phone Michael or Elspeth Cooke on 863293.
The Wednesday Home Group
Each Wednesday in Lent meeting at St. Leu at 2.30 pm. We are following the Lent course Saying Yes to Life by Ruth Valerio, which looks at God as Creator and Redeemer, encouraging us to respond as carers of God’s World and as followers of Jesus to the Creation and to the Suffering, Death and Resurrection of our Saviour. Please bring a Bible. It is not essential to buy the book but if you wish to, it is available on Amazon. All are welcome on all or any of these Wednesdays.

We are always SO grateful for the cash donations given each week at services. If you are a tax payer it would be an even greater benefit if you could put your donation in a completed yellow Gift Aid envelope so that we can recover the extra 25p in every pound given!
