Update Quiet Day May 22nd
Are you all excited about coming out of lockdown? Before you do, we invite you to set aside a precious day for God: to pause and listen together for what he is saying to us, both individually as his unique, beloved children, and collectively as the people of St Peter’s. Please arrive at ten o’clock for coffee, and please note that we will now be finishing at 3pm. Please bring your own lunch. Tea and coffee will be available on arrival, during lunch and (with cakes!) to finish. There are still some places left – please contact Rev Alice on 07790 903316, or email her at curate@stpeterinthanet.org.uk Please bring a Bible, and if you like reflecting while doing something like knitting or crochet, do bring that too. I will supply various ‘crafty’ things and other materials you may like to use: please expect to hear God. How is he already using the unique story of your life so far? And how might that fit into our shared St Peter’s story as we step into a changed, post-covid world? As Jan said in her lead article in the May magazine, we could all be very surprised, and I so look forward to exploring this with you! Rev Alice
Christian Aid Plant Stall The Plant Stall in support of Christian Aid will take place outdoors on the morning of Saturday 29th May at St Peter’s (on the corner outside the hall at the junction of Vicarage Street and Hopeville Avenue). Please bring any donations of plants or other garden–related items to the stall from 8:30 am on the morning of the stall. Any queries please contact me. Thank you. Elspeth Cooke(01843 863293)
Electoral Roll Due to the APCM being moved to Sunday 20th June 2021 the Electoral Roll for St. Peter’s Church will commence on Sunday 22nd May 2021 and will be completed by Saturday 5th June 2021. After that date no further names can be added to the Roll until after the APCM on Sunday 20th June 2021. An official notice will be displayed in the South Porch, a copy of the existing Roll will be available for inspection in the Church alongside forms for those wishing to join the Electoral Roll. Please ask Pauline Osborne when you come into church, and she can check for you. If your name is on the current Roll and you wish to remain on it, you need take no further action. Gill Horne, Electoral Roll Officer
Thanet Food Link Despite the enormous generosity of so many of you, the stocks at Thanet Food Link are running low, and they are short of the following items: Tinned vegetables, Tinned desserts, Tinned hot dogs, Cereal, Tea & coffee, Juice (1litre). Any donations of the above, or any other non-perishable items would be very much appreciated. If every member of the congregation just added one tin to their weekly food shop, and donated it to the Food Link, it would make an enormous difference to so many families who are really struggling at the moment. Donations can be dropped at: St. Peter’s Baptist church 10:30-12:00 Fri, The Vicarage (14 Vicarage Street) anytime, and St Peters church on a Sunday or Wednesday morning (9:30-11am).
The Wednesday Home Group. The Wednesday Home Group will meet on the first Wednesday of the month. The next one will be on the 2nd June which will be via zoom. It may then be possible to meet together in person. Our discussions are Bible based. Everyone is welcome to join us. Rev Alice, (curate@stpeterinthanet.org.uk), will host the zoom meeting and send you a link. You can join from 2pm and post a prayer or request for a prayer on chat. We will begin the meeting at 2.30 pm. Contact for details: junebinfield@outlook.com or 01843 861286 or 07711072233.
The Monday Group meets weekly at 14:30 – now outdoors in the garden of 92 Dumpton Park Drive, compliant with the Government’s new regulations. (If there were to be rain, we’d be under gazebo, etc.) We will continue to share some of the glories and encouragement contained within the Bible Readings heard in Church the previous day. You would be most welcome – even for a one-off – there’s no obligation to have to say anything! After about an hour of reflection and sharing often different insights, we spend some time in prayer together. For more details, please phone Michael Cooke on 863293.
Zoom Coffee and Chat
With Lockdown still upon us and restrictions placed on our going out and meeting people, I know many of you are missing ‘seeing’ people, so I would like to invite you to a weekly zoom ‘coffee and chat’ for half an hour on a Monday morning at 11:30. Please provide your own tea or coffee and then spend time catching up with friends. All are welcome, please email revjandurrans@gmail.com if you would like to join us, and I will then email you the link. Rev Jan (and Rev Alice).
Please help! Rev Alice needs to borrow some gazebos for the Quiet Day on May 22nd. If you can help, please contact her on 07790 903316 or at curate@stpeterinthanet.org.uk
