Tokens
Many people are kind enough to make monthly donations by Standing Order but find it awkward when the collection plate goes around as they have nothing to put in to indicate their giving. We have therefore introduced a Giving Token which can be collected when entering the church, and this can be placed in the collecting plate.
Eco Church
Our church is taking part in the Eco Church Award Scheme run by arocha.org.uk. I have been asked by the PCC to lead on this. Awards are gained by our church “going green”. Please contact me for information or with comments, suggestions or ideas. Also as a small step in caring for God’s earth, could you please, if you can, bring a cup from home for coffee after the service? Our cups are biodegradable (and will still be available), but they still need to be disposed of and may not be recycled correctly. Thank you, Caroline Pile.
Charity coffee pod & crisp packet recycling
I will be collecting crisp packets and Tassimo coffee pods in aid of the Kent air ambulance. They can be given to me at church service or I will leave a box for them to be placed in which will be located in the children’s corner. Thank you from Toni Lawrence.
Message for Monday at 7 and others.
Bob Drywood is organising a trip to see the Saturday matinee performance of South Pacific at the Theatre Royal Margate on Saturday 19th October. Special ticket price £10. Please make contact with him if you wish to book seats at this special price on 862522 or thespiantoo@live.co.uk. Closing date for bookings at this special price is Sunday 22nd September.
Monday at 7
Our next event is on Wednesday 11th September, going to the Battle of Britain Museum at Hawkinge. We will meet in the ticket office at 2pm. Carol has negotiated a discount if we all pay together, so please wait until we have all arrived. The entry charge is £7.50 each, and we need to pay in cash to get the discount. Carol Lamont is co-ordinating this event for us, so any queries, please contact Carol Tel: 01843 309728. Thank you.
Canterbury Cathedral
The clergy and people of St Peter in Thanet are being prayed for in Canterbury Cathedral at the Holy Communion Service at 8am and Evensong on Friday 20th September. You are all most welcome to attend.
Friends of Kent Churches ‘Ride and Stride’ Saturday, 14th September, 10.00 am to 6.00 pm
You can enjoy a day cycling or walking around Kent Churches (locally or further afield. The choice is yours). Sponsorship forms and information now available from Sally Wood (local organiser) – telephone 01843 862058, or speak to her in Church. All money raised is divided between Friends of Kent Churches, and Church of your choice. The rota for stewarding at our Church is now available with one hour slots between 10
am and 6 pm. Please help us keep our Church open by volunteering during the day. The rota is by the South Door. Thank you, Sally Wood. N.B. Daniel has left a sponsorship form by the rota at the South door and would be grateful for your support this year as he is on his own.

Indoor Boot Fair
There will be another Boot Fair in the Community Hall on Saturday 21st September, starting at 9.00am and finishing at 12.00pm. Tables £10.00 each to hire and can be booked by calling at the Parish Office in Hopeville Avenue, Broadstairs CT10 2TR (open between 9.00am and 1.00pm weekdays) or by calling the office on 01843 866061. Tea, Coffee and other refreshments (especially hot bacon rolls!) will be available on the day. Quiz Night
The next Quiz Night will be on Friday 4th October 2019 and tickets are now available at £10.00 each. Tables will be arranged with up to eight players each so, if you or your friends would like to take part, book early to avoid disappointment. A Fish & Chip supper, which will be served during the interval is, as usual, included in the price (please let us know when buying your ticket if you would prefer something else). The doors will open at 6.30pm for a 7.00pm start and the quiz will, as usual, be devised and run by the immensely able Jane Green.
