Christian Aid Week begins today
As you came into church today, you will have been given a Christian Aid envelope. The envelope can be returned to church (or to the church office) with your donation and is an opportunity to give even if your street is not covered by the house-to-house collection. If you are a taxpayer, please complete the Gift Aid declaration to increase the value of your gift.
Don’t forget today is the last Sunday of this year’s Christian Aid plant stall .
An Afternoon of Guitar & Song
This afternoon at 3 pm at Holy Trinity Church, Broadstairs, Andrew and Sarah-Jane Morris (Voices) and Andrew Keeping (guitar) will be giving a recital. Last year the two Andrews gave a delightful recital of song and guitar. This year Sarah-Jane joins her husband in singing. An afternoon not to be missed.
Tickets £5 at the door. All proceeds to Christian Aid.
Pentecost, There will be no 9.30 service here at St Peters Church on Sunday 20th May as we will be joining with St Peters Baptist church and Elim Oasis for a joint service at Elim Oasis Church ( Ranelagh Grove, St Peters) which will begin at 10:30am. I hope to see you all there.
Monday @ 7. Our next event is on Tuesday 15th May, to see ”My Fair Lady” at the Granville Theatre, Ramsgate. This is being organised by Bob Drywood, so any communication should be directed to him. Tel: 01843 862522, email: thespiantoo@live.co.uk. Thanks, Marion Brown

This service is open to all, especially to those who have designated roles in the church, and it is hoped that some members of our congregation will also be there to show their support for Sylvia and Pauline.
There will be a meeting of the Dream Team on Thursday, 17th May from 7-9 pm at Holy Trinity Church, Margate. We meet to encourage each other, pray, worship and dream about our mission in all the churches in our Deanery. There will be 2 guest speakers. Everyone is welcome.

FUND RAISING NEWS
The ‘Wonders of Chocolate Revealed’ – Talk and Tea
The 18th May ‘Wonders of Chocolate Revealed’ event is almost upon us. There are still a (very) few tickets left so book now if you would like to come. Carl Whitewood will give the talk, samples will be handed out, and there will be a raffle and a tea to follow and all for only £7.00! It’s certain to be a great afternoon so; if you haven’t bought you ticket yet, don’t delay! Incidentally, we can always do with more raffle prizes, both for this event and others so, if you have anything which you can donate (unwanted gifts, bottles of wine etc.) please take them to the Parish Office on any weekday morning.
Help Needed Could you help by making a cake for the Chocolate Talk and Tea on Friday 18th May? Please talk to Jane Green so that we can ensure a delicious variety of cakes. Either talk to her in church, call her on 01843 866793 or email her on janegreen99@hotmail.comThank you.
The Summer Fete
The summer fete is drawing near and preparations are already well under way. The organiser, Roger Waddell will soon be back in the UK and will hold a co-ord meeting for all the helpers so, if you took part last year, please support us again if you can. You will be very welcome indeed.
The Grand Raffle
These will be available with the latest Parish Magazine and will be available to everyone, so please sell them whenever you can. They are a vital part of the summer fete and are essential to our fund raising effort, so please do all that you can to sell raffle tickets and return the counterfoils to the Parish office.
The Summer Disco Dance Party
The next disco dance party will take place on 7th July so, if you would like to come along for a bit of fun and dancing, please put this date in your diary. Tickets available soon.
Monday Home Group – 2:30 pm at 92 Dumpton Park Drive, Broadstairs CT10 1RL
We look forward to reflecting together for about an hour on different aspects of the Bible Readings heard in church the previous day, and then conclude with fellowship over a cup of tea. As each session is a ‘stand-alone’, newcomers are warmly invited to join us. If you’d like to know more, do please phone Michael & Elspeth Cooke on 863293.
Wednesday Home Group – 2.30 pm at St Leu, Vicarage Street
We resume on the 16th May, and start each meeting with a short prayer and will then remind ourselves of the readings from the previous Sunday. Then open discussion, very open quite often! Parish and world-wide goings-on get a hearing! Also we probably have space for a couple more regulars. Or you might like to visit once to see what goes on. Please ring John Cox on 07989 057737 for more information.
NOVENA Between Ascension Day and Pentecost (11th and 19th May) there are nine special days of prayer. The theme for these prayers is ‘changed lives – changing lives’ and they form part of ‘Thy Kingdom Come’ – the Diocesan initiative to encourage people to explore through prayer how they might witness to God’s life-changing work. There are booklets by the South Porch, so please do take one to guide your own personal prayers throughout this special time of prayer. Rev Jan
