ANNUAL PAROCHIAL MEETING
The Annual Meeting for St Peter’s church will take place in the Hall on Sunday 29th April at 11am. All are welcome to attend the meeting although only those members of the church electoral roll of the Parish or members of the local government register of electors by virtue of residence in the Parish can attend and vote. At this meeting, we will elect our two Churchwardens for the next year.
This will be followed by the ANNUAL PAROCHIAL CHURCH MEETING (APCM) at which we need to appoint four more members of the Parochial Church Council. This is a meeting only for those on the Church electoral roll of the Parish. Please do consider standing for one of these posts – but each nomination must have a proposer and a seconder please. The necessary forms can be found by the South Porch. If you have any questions do please ask me. Rev’d Jan
The Agendas for both meetings along with the reports for the APCM, are by the South Porch. Please do take home and read.
REVISION of the Electoral Roll of St Peter’s Parish Church 2018. The revision commenced on Saturday 31st March 2018, and will be completed on Saturday 14th April 2018, following that latter date no further names may be added to the Roll until after the APCM on Sunday 29th April 2018. Official notices will be posted in the south porch and inside the church. If your name is already on the Electoral Roll you need take no further action.
Please help with the House-to house Collection during Christian Aid Week 13-19 May
It would be wonderful if you could help with this year’s Christian Aid Week house-to-house collection. There are many streets in the parish which we do not cover, so any help in collecting from just a few houses is greatly valued. Please give prayerful consideration to volunteering. There is a sign-up list near the south door of the church or have a word with me for more information about what is involved.
Coming Soon! Plant Stall in Church Hall foyer starts next Sunday 22 April
Please bring along plants etc to sell to the Church Hall foyer before the main Sunday morning service. If you need plants collecting or have any queries, please contact me. The stall will be open after the main morning service on 22nd and 29th April, 6th and 13th May, and in the hall foyer during the intervening weeks. Your support is much appreciated. Monday @ 7. Thirty of us had a most enjoyable evening with Russell Miles, an excellent wildlife photographer, who entranced us with many wonderful images of local wildlife. Our next event is on Tuesday May 15th, to see ”My Fair Lady” at the Granville Theatre, Ramsgate. This is being co-ordinated by Bob Drywood, so any communication should be directed to him. Tel: 01843 862522, email thespiantoo@live.co.uk. Thanks, Marion Brown.
St. Peter’s Lunch Club
S.O.S. We are in urgent need of more help, both in the kitchen and the hall, to keep this club running to the high standard we have always tried to maintain. It takes up to 40 first class volunteers for this to happen. If you feel you can spare an hour or two regularly on one Monday in four every month, please speak to Jean Hawkeswood in church or on 868195 to help in the kitchen (lunch provided!) or to me, Doreen Wales, in church or on 868646 to help in the hall. Please don’t let us down. Many thanks. Doreen Wales.
Oberammergau 2020
Brochures and itinerary for this trip to Oberammergau are now available and are placed by the South Door. If you are interested in coming please take a brochure and talk to Rev Jan.
FUND RAISING NEWS
Fashion Show-This was a really great evening; thanks mainly to Pauline Osborne who masterminded it. But the good news is that, although it was announced in Church the next day the event had raised £638, after a further calculation we found it had actually raised £698! So once again many thanks to all who worked so hard to make it such a success.
Friday 20 April 7pm. Wine & Wisdom. Teams of 8 with tickets at £9 per person, include award-winning Fish & Chips from the now nationally famous Newington Fish Bar. There are still a very few places left, so DO put yourself down for the evening which is great fun and very relaxed. Jane Green has now worked out the questions, which usually involve both sound, vision and smell or touch, and they are lodged in the safe until the night! The next Wine & Wisdom is not until 2 November so join us this time.
Friday 18 May 3pm Talk. Booking is going well and as there were large number of ‘hits’ as a result of the flyer going on Facebook and places are limited to 50, don’t delay securing your seat! ‘The wonders of Chocolate revealed!’ by Carl Whitewood, with samples (!), followed by a raffle and a very special Tea. Tickets only £7 -the equivalent in Fortnum & Mason is over £50 and that’s just for the tea!
Monday Home Group – 2:30 pm at 92 Dumpton Park Drive, Broadstairs CT10 1RL
We will NOT be meeting tomorrow (16th April), but resume on Monday 23rd, and weekly thereafter. We shall be reflecting together for about an hour on the Bible Readings heard in church the previous day, and then conclude with fellowship over a cup of tea. Newcomers are warmly invited to join us – if you’d like to know more, do phone us on 863293
Wednesday Home Group
