Baptisms

As a parent you will probably want to celebrate the arrival of your child with some form of service in church.

The Church of England recognises two main services to celebrate the birth of a child: Thanksgiving – a simple thank you to God for your child, or Baptism (sometimes called Christening). For enquiries about either please contact the Rev’d Jan Durrans (01843 869169), and she will be pleased to speak with you, and answer any questions you may have.

The Church of England is organised in parishes and we always encourage couples to seek baptism in the parish where they live. You can check if St Peters is your parish church by going to the Church of England web site www.churchofengland.org and entering your postcode in the box on the right-hand side of the home page.

We work hard to keep up with requests for baptism from those who live within our parish or who already a have a clear connection with St Peters therefore we would encourage you to seek baptism where you live and hope that you might establish a fruitful link with your own parish church. We are also trying to be fair to the Priest-in-Charge of your parish.

However, if you would like to know more about establishing a connection with St Peters do contact The Rev’d Jan Durrans.
