OLD PALM CROSSES If you would like your old palm cross to be burnt for ash and used to mark the forehead of those who come to church on Ash Wednesday please leave it either at the back of church or in the Parish Office. Thank you.
At Sunday Praise last August, sweet pea seeds were distributed by Jan Gee. If you haven’t already done so, now is the time to sow them in pots of seed compost so that they will be ready to plant out in April. A lovely display of sweet peas would be a fitting tribute to Jan.
The PCC have applied for a faculty to put a second handrail on the steps leading to the north door in church. Full details of this application are available in the Parish office, and notices are on the notice boards in Church and outside the Parish office. Any objections should be sent to the registrar in writing at the address stated on the notices.
Our next event is on Monday 17th February, 12.30 for 1pm, for lunch at the Racing Greyhound, Ramsgate. If you have not already contacted me, I need to know ASAP if you are coming, or not, and your Menu choices. I have to pre order our food, which needs to be done shortly. Any queries, contact Marion Brown, Tel 604524, email . Thank you.
The Winter Shelter.
Thank you for your generous support. You may like to know that a man who used the shelter in 2017 is now working for the project. He was housed just before the shelter closed in that year and he was helped to give up addictions. Since November 2019, 12 users have been housed and are being helped into a settled life style by a team called RISE. Rise also tries to help a few rough sleepers who so far have refused all help. Please give new socks, new underwear, rucksacks, toiletries both male and female and feminine hygiene items. I will also collect cleaning materials to help the churches who provide the accommodation. Please leave your donations in the Church or in the Parish Office. Contact: June Binfield / 01843 861286 / 07711 072233.
Charity coffee pod & crisp packet recycling
I will be collecting crisp packets and Tassimo coffee pods in aid of the Kent air ambulance. They can be given to me at church service or I will leave a box for them to be placed in which will be located in the children’s corner. So far we have collected 600 coffee pods and 1600 crisps packets which have been sent off to raise funds for the air ambulance. Thank you from Toni Lawrence.

Boot Fair – Saturday 15th February
There are still some tables available for next Saturday’s Boot Fair so, if you would like to hire one, you can book up by contacting the Parish office in Hopeville Avenue or call on 01843 866061, or encourage other interested parties to do so (the office is open and available to take phone calls between 9.00am and 1.00pm on weekdays). Tables are charged at £10.00 each and tea/coffee and bacon rolls will be available.
Interest in Friday 21st February’s Beetle Drive is increasing and we hope for a really good turnout. It should be fun both for adults and children so, if you haven’t booked up yet get your tickets (£5.00 each for adults and £3.00 for children) from the Parish Office as soon as you can. There will also be a raffle and modest prizes for the winning teams so, if you care to try driving a Beetle or two, buy some tickets and come along!
Cakes We need some cakes to serve in the Beetle Drive interval, so any of our many expert cake makers who are willing and able to supply something for the Beetle Drive should contact Marion Brown, the FRs Cake Liaison officer!
Talk – ‘Round the World in a Double Decker Bus’
On Thursday 12th March (2.00pm to 4,30pm) there will be a talk in the Main Hall by Richard King. In the early ‘70s he and a group of friends bought an old double-decker bus, fitted it out, and drove it round the world! It seems amazing to think that anyone could successfully make such a journey, but these guys did it! I don’t imagine that it could be done now – it would be too dangerous! Richard now tells of his experiences in a very interesting talk and he is coming to St. Peter’s in March to deliver it for us. The event will take place in the Community Hall and Afternoon Tea, with sandwiches and cake, will be served as part of the event. Tickets are available now at £10.00 each and can be bought at the Parish Office (details above). The talk is both fascinating and hilarious so note the date in your diary, tell your friends about it and come along.
The next Quiz Night will take place on Friday 3rd April 6.30 for 7.00pm start to 10.30pm so, if you would like to get a team together, you might like to start preparing. Tickets £10.00 each are now available, which includes fish & chips that will be served during the interval as usual.
Monday Home Group 2:30 pm at 92 Dumpton Park Drive, CT10 1RL
We meet weekly to share in some of the glories and encouragement contained within the Bible Readings heard in Church the previous day. You’d be most welcome – even for a one-off – there’s no obligation to have to say anything! After the hour of reflection, sometimes also drawing also on art or music, we then enjoy tea and fellowship. For more details, please phone Michael or Elspeth Cooke on 863293.
The Wednesday Home Group.
We will meet again for each Wednesday in Lent, starting on February 26th. We meet at 2.30 pm at St. Leu. Details of our Lent course to follow. All are welcome, whether you can make all the meetings or only some of them. Contact: June Binfield. or 01843 861286 or 07711072233.

We are always SO grateful for the cash donations given each week at services. If you are a tax payer it would be an even greater benefit if you could put your donation in a completed yellow Gift Aid envelope so that we can recover the extra 25p in every pound given!
