Christmas Decorations

Many, many thanks to everyone who donated Christmas items for the choir’s stall at the Festive Fayre. We made around £400 which we were delighted with.

Thinking ahead to this year, please remember us when you dismantle your decorations after Christmas. We are hoping to repeat the event and would therefore be very grateful for any unwanted items – baubles, wreaths, trees, tinsel, gifts etc. etc. etc. They can be left in the choir vestry, the parish office or I can collect if necessary. (01843 602956). With best wishes to all for a happy and healthy 2020. Sue Barker.

The Winter Shelter.

Thank you for your wonderful support so far. The shelter continues through January and February offering accommodation and welfare services and helping to rebuild damaged lives. Please give new socks, new underwear, rucksacks, toiletries both male and female and feminine hygiene items. Please leave your donations in the Church or in the Parish Office. Contact: June Binfield  / 01843 861286 / 07711 072233.

Christmas Tree Festival

Belated thanks to all who helped in various ways at the Christmas Tree Festival. It was a huge success, enjoyed by so many visitors to the church, and also raised over £600 for church funds but only possible because of the work and time given by so many volunteers, especially those involved in setting up on the Thursday and clearing up after the event on Monday.   If you have any ideas for the theme for the coming year please contact me. Pauline Osborne

Charity coffee pod & crisp packet recycling

I will be collecting crisp packets and Tassimo coffee pods in aid of the Kent air ambulance. They can be given to me at church service or I will leave a box for them to be placed in which will be located in the children’s corner. So far we have collected 600 coffee pods and 1600 crisps packets which have been sent off to raise funds for the air ambulance. Thank you from Toni Lawrence.

Fundraising Committee Report for Sunday 19th January 2020

Boot Fair – Saturday 18th January

Last Saturday’s Boot Fair unfortunately had to be cancelled as circumstances beyond our control prevented us from running it. Better luck next time, perhaps!

Boot Fair – Saturday 15th February

Fortunately, next time is not long away. The next Boot fair will take place on Saturday 15th February in the Community Hall. We have already had some enquiries from potential table holders so, if you would like to hire one, you might need to do so earlier rather than later. Tables are priced at £10.00 each and you can book one by contacting the Parish office in Hopeville Avenue or call on 01843 866061. (the office is only open and available to take phone calls between 9.00am and 1.00pm on weekdays).

Tea and Beetle Drive

On Friday 21st February at 2.30 pm we have arranged a Beetle Drive, which should appeal to both adults and children. What is a Beetle Drive? I had to ask that question when the idea was first mooted, but it is a game involving building a Beetle (not a real one I hasten to add) using paper, pencils and a dice. Tickets will be £5.00 each for adults and £3.00 for children and can be obtained from the Parish Office in Hopeville Avenue (see above). There will also be a raffle and modest prizes for the winning teams so, if you care to try driving a Beetle or two, buy some tickets and come along!

Dinner and Dance

Don’t’ forget to note the date of 12th June 2020 and let’s make the St. Peter’s Dinner and Dance event at the Pavilion a real night to remember (for all the best reasons!)

Raffle Prizes

We are always looking for more prizes for our raffles so, if you have anything suitable that you don’t want, please remember us. The next event which will involve a raffle will be the ‘Beetle Drive’ in February, so including things appropriate for children would be especially welcome.

Monday Home Group 2:30 pm at 92 Dumpton Park Drive, CT10 1RL

Are you still looking for an achievable and joyful New Year Resolution? Then come and join us, meeting weekly to share in some of the glories and encouragement contained within the Bible Readings heard in Church the previous day.  You’d be most welcome – even for a one-off – there’s no obligation to have to say anything!  After the hour of reflection through the Bible, art and music, we then enjoy tea and fellowship.  For more details, please phone Michael or Elspeth Cooke on 863293.

The Wednesday Home Group.

We will meet again on Wednesday, 5th February at 2.30 pm at St. Leu. Irving will be continuing our study of the early books of the Old Testament. All are welcome. Contact: June Binfield.  or 01843 861286 or 07711 072233

We are always SO grateful for the cash donations given each week at services. If you are a tax payer it would be an even greater benefit if you could put your donation in a completed yellow Gift Aid envelope so that we can recover the extra 25p in every pound given!
