Christmas Decorations

Many, many thanks to everyone who donated Christmas items for the choir’s stall at the Festive Fayre. We made around £400 which we were delighted with.

Thinking ahead to this year, please remember us when you dismantle your decorations after Christmas. We are hoping to repeat the event and would therefore be very grateful for any unwanted items – baubles, wreaths, trees, tinsel, gifts etc. etc. etc. They can be left in the choir vestry, the parish office or I can collect if necessary. (01843 602956). With best wishes to all for a happy and healthy 2020. Sue Barker.

The Winter Shelter.

Thank you for your wonderful support so far. The shelter continues through January and February offering accommodation and welfare services and helping to rebuild damaged lives. Please give new socks, new underwear, rucksacks, toiletries both male and female and feminine hygiene items. Please leave your donations in the Church or in the Parish Office. Contact: June Binfield.  / 01843 861286 / 07711 072233.

Monday at 7.

Our next event is our New Year Party on Saturday 11th January at 7pm.  This is being held at 21 Fig Tree Road, the Binfield’s home.  Would you all bring £5 each please, and if any of you would like to provide a dessert that would be great. Please let me know if you are coming, and what, if anything you are bringing. Thank you.

Card Making

The amount raised by the sale of cards last year was £639.35. Thanks to the dedicated team of card makers, those who supply us with card fronts and cellophane.

It has turned into a real community effort. I have enjoyed leading and setting up the project which I am pleased to say runs itself. Due to my potential ongoing health problems I will not be able to continue the work

into the New Year. Rev Jan has offered the use of her home for the monthly meetings, and Don has found a home for the raw materials in the Parish Office. All that is needed is a leader and another team member.

Please note that we will not be collecting Christmas card fronts this year as the stock is still high. With grateful thanks, Jan Gee.

Charity coffee pod & crisp packet recycling

I will be collecting crisp packets and Tassimo coffee pods in aid of the Kent air ambulance. They can be given to me at church service or I will leave a box for them to be placed in which will be located in the children’s corner. So far we have collected 600 coffee pods and 1600 crisps packets which have been sent off to raise funds for the air ambulance. Thank you from Toni Lawrence.

Fundraising Committee Report for Sunday 5th January 2020

Boot Fair

The next Fundraising event (and the first for 2020) will be a Boot Fair on Saturday 18th January. Anyone wishing to book a Table should contact the Parish office in Hopeville Avenue or call on 01843 866061. Please note that the office is only open and available to take phone calls between 9.00am and 1.00pm on weekdays. Tables are not considered to be reserved until the £10.00 fee has been paid.

Raffle Prizes

Our stocks of raffle prizes are severely diminished due to the Christmas Fayre and other events, and we very badly need more, because we have several events planned for the first part of 2020 which will involve a raffle. If you have anything that you don’t want or need, please consider donating it to the church. It is often surprising just how much raffles can raise, so nothing you donate will go to waste.

Monday Home Group 2:30 pm at 3 Elizabeth Court, North Foreland Road, CT10 1EW

Tomorrow (Monday 6th) our theme will be “Christian Joy”. If you are looking for a time of refreshment after the busy and family season, do come and join us, even for a one-off – you’d be most welcome!  After the hour of reflection drawing on art, music and few words, we then enjoy tea and fellowship.  For more details, please phone Michael or Elspeth Cooke on 863293.

The Wednesday Home Group.

We will meet again on Wednesday, 5th February at 2.30 pm at St. Leu. Irving will be continuing our study of the early books of the Old Testament. All are welcome. Contact: June Binfield.  or 01843 861286 or 07711 072233

We are always SO grateful for the cash donations given each week at services. If you are a tax payer it would be an even greater benefit if you could put your donation in a completed yellow Gift Aid envelope so that we can recover the extra 25p in every pound given!
