Thanet Food Link

Please pass on our grateful thanks to your PCC and congregation for the kind financial donation that we received following your Harvest Festival. As a charity we have been greatly blessed by your church over the years. Your giving both in food and money will really help us to work towards meeting the needs of those in Thanet who find themselves without Food. Love in Christ, Debbie Ellisdon, Chair Thanet Food Link.

The Winter Shelter

The Thanet Winter Shelter opens on 11 November and will run until the 27th March. Please give new socks, warm gloves and hats. Please leave your donations in the Church or in the Parish office. I will suggest different items from time to time. Thank you, June Binfield.  / 01843 861286 / 07711 072233.

Card Making – Christmas Cards

Christmas cards are now on sale in church after the 9.30 service, and in the foyer of the Church hall. Prices remain the same as last year, with packs of five for £1 and larger individual cards for 40p each. Please support the church by purchasing our cards. Thank you once again for saving your card fronts and cellophane bags and giving them to us. Jan Gee.

Samaritan’s Purse – Shoebox Appeal

We are supporting Samaritan’s Purse again this year and you are invited to fill a shoebox for a child. Flat pack boxes (if required, costing 30p) and instruction leaflets are available in church and the Parish Office. Due to import regulations you can no longer put toothpaste or sweets in your box. Please return your filled boxes to the Parish Office by Friday 15th November. Thank you. Sylvia Mills.

Christmas Decorations

We are collecting Christmas items again for the Festive Fayre so would be very grateful for any donations of unwanted baubles, tinsel, candles, puzzles, ornaments etc. Their condition is not too important as we recycle them into new wreaths or table decorations. They can be left in the vestry or parish office between now and Nov 20th. Thank you for your support. Sue Barker.

Monday at 7.

Our next meeting will be our AGM, which will be at 21 Fig Tree Road, on Monday 11th November at 7pm. I hope you will all be able to attend, please let me know whether you are coming or not.  Many thanks.  Any queries, contact Marion Brown, Tel 604524, email .

Come and Sing!

Join our choir for our Christmas music celebrations – Christmas Tree Festival (14th Dec.) and Carol Service (15th Dec.). If you are interested please speak to Patrick or a member of the choir or email:

Charity coffee pod & crisp packet recycling

I will be collecting crisp packets and Tassimo coffee pods in aid of the Kent air ambulance. They can be given to me at church service or I will leave a box for them to be placed in which will be located in the children’s corner. Thank you from Toni Lawrence.

Fundraising Committee Report for Sunday 3rd November 2019

Fashion Show

A fuller report on the outcome of Friday’s show will appear in next week’s News Sheet.

Concert

A concert of Baroque music has been put together by Patrick Dunn for the evening of Saturday 16th November, whereby the Thanet Sinfonia will perform several pieces by such composers as Corelli, Bach and Vivaldi. The concert will take place in the church starting at 7.30pm and tickets, at a price of £10.00 each, are available from the Parish Office in Hopeville Avenue (open between 9.00am and 1.00pm each weekday) or by calling the office on 01843 866061. Alternatively, tickets can be bought at the door of the church on the night.

Indoor Boot Fair

The next Boot fair will take place on Saturday 30th November in the Community hall, starting at 9.00am. Tables are available at £10.00 each and anyone who wishes to hire one should contact the Parish office at the address above. The event will also appear on the Church’s Facebook site. Even though this event has not yet been advertised to the wider public, a lot of tables have already been sold. If you would like to hire one, it might be advisable to do so sooner rather than later, or you may well miss the chance. It will be the last Boot fair before Christmas and tends to be popular.

Raffle Prizes

We have a number of events coming up at which we will run raffles, but we are becoming short of suitable prizes. If you have anything which you don’t want, perhaps an unwanted present or something similar, or if you would like to just donate something for us to raffle, we would be very grateful indeed. The Christmas Fayre is coming up (again!) and we always like to put on a good show for the visitors and participants so, if you can manage to let us have some small thing, you can be sure it will be put to good use.

Monday Home Group 2:30 pm at 92 Dumpton Park Drive

If you are looking for something different and refreshing, please do come and join us, even for a one-off! We resume our weekly meetings tomorrow Monday 4th November, when through art, music and few words we shall reflect each week on one of the great (pre) Advent themes. For November these will be:  4th: All Saints (in this world and the next); 11th: Remembering (what Jesus and others have done); 18th:  Love (the extra aspects which Jesus brings, and how people respond); 25th: The Kingship of Jesus.  After the hour of reflection, we then enjoy tea and fellowship.   For more details, please phone Michael or Elspeth on 863293.

The Wednesday Home Group. Our next meeting is on Wednesday, November 6th at 2.30 pm at St. Leu. Irving will talk about Man’s relationship with God, drawing on the first 4 chapters of the Old Testament. All are welcome. Contact:- June Binfield,  or 07711 072233 or 01843 861286. We are planning to meet on 3 Wednesdays in December, 4th, 11th and 18th, to follow a course for Advent. Details to follow.

We are always SO grateful for the cash donations given each week at services. If you are a tax payer it would be an even greater benefit if you could put your donation in a completed yellow Gift Aid envelope so that we can recover the extra 25p in every pound given!
