Tokens Many people are kind enough to make monthly donations by Standing Order but find it awkward when the collection plate goes around as they have nothing to put in to indicate their giving. We have therefore introduced a Giving Token which can be collected when entering the church, and this can be placed in the collecting plate.

Canterbury Cathedral

The clergy and people of St Peter in Thanet are being prayed for in Canterbury Cathedral at the Holy Communion Service at 8am and Evensong on Friday 20th September. You are all most welcome to attend.

Harvest Festival Will be held on Sunday 29th September when we will be joined by the Uniformed Organisations. We will be donating all food stuffs to Thanet Food Link who are asking for the following items: Tins: baked beans, rice pudding, tomatoes, custard. Dried Food: pasta, rice, noodles, cup a soup. Other Food: biscuits, cereal bars, jam, coffee, squash, small boxes of cereals, long life milk and fruit juice.  Thank you in advance for your generosity.

Harvest Supper Harvest Supper will be held on Sunday 29th September in the main hall. The menu will be lasagna, or vegetarian cottage pie, with salad, followed by fruit crumble or fruit salad. Tea and coffee will be provided but please bring your own alcoholic drinks. Tickets now available from the Parish Office, cost £7.50 per person. Entertainment will follow the meal.

Fabric matters – Work on the roof of the church will start at the end of September, and this is expected to take about two weeks. Following on from this, work will start on the stonework repairs on 28 October, and this is expected to last 16 weeks.

Thank you To Rev Jan for a truly lovely service, and to the members of St Peter’s congregation who attended Mum’s funeral on Tuesday. Also to the ladies who made cakes, for the tea and cake after the service. Everyone’s support at St Peter’s has been very much appreciated. Thank you Simon and Marcus Perry.

Eco Church Our church is taking part in the Eco Church Award Scheme run by arocha.org.uk. I have been asked by the PCC to lead on this. Awards are gained by our church “going green”. Please contact me for information or with comments, suggestions or ideas. Also as a small step in caring for God’s earth, could you please, if you can, bring a cup from home for coffee after the service? Our cups are biodegradable (and will still be available), but they still need to be disposed of and may not be recycled correctly. Thank you, Caroline Pile.

Charity coffee pod & crisp packet recycling I will be collecting crisp packets and Tassimo coffee pods in aid of the Kent air ambulance. They can be given to me at church service or I will leave a box for them to be placed in which will be located in the children’s corner. Thank you from Toni Lawrence.

Fundraising Committee Report for Sunday 15th September 2019

Indoor Boot Fair

The next Boot fair is scheduled for Saturday 21st September. There is only one table left so, if you want to hire one, you will need to be quick. To reserve or book a table, please visit the Parish Office in Hopeville Avenue, St. Peters, which open between 9.00am and 1.00pm, or call the office on 01843 866061. If you call and find that there are no more tables, don’t worry – there will, be another Boot Fair in November!

Quiz Night

The next Quiz Night will be on Friday 4th October 2019 and tickets are now available at £10.00 each. Tables will be arranged with up to eight players each so, if you or your friends would like to take part, book early to avoid disappointment. A Fish & Chip supper, which will be served during the interval is, as usual, included in the price (please let us know when buying your ticket if you would prefer something else). The doors will open at 6.30pm for a 7.00pm start and the quiz will, as usual, be devised and run by the immensely able Jane Green. If you or your friends would like tickets, please call at the Parish office (address above) or telephone on 01843 866061.

Fashion Show

A Fashion Show, in collaboration between St. Peters and Roman Fashions, is being arranged for the evening of Friday 1st November, to take place in the Parish Hall. The last show was a couple of years ago and was great fun for everyone concerned. Tickets are not yet available but will be fairly soon so, if you are interested, tell your friends and mark it in your diary. More details, such as ticket prices, starting times etc., will be available soon.

We are always SO grateful for the cash donations given each week at services. If you are a tax payer it would be an even greater benefit if you could put your donation in a completed yellow Gift Aid envelope so that we can recover the extra 25p in every pound given!
