The clergy and people of St Peter in Thanet are being prayed for in Canterbury Cathedral at the Holy Communion Service at 8am and Evensong on Friday 20th September. You are all most welcome to attend.
Many people are kind enough to make monthly donations by Standing Order but find it awkward when the collection plate goes around as they have nothing to put in to indicate their giving. We have therefore introduced a Giving Token which can be collected when entering the church, and this can be placed in the collecting plate.
Harvest Supper will be held on Sunday 29th September in the main hall. The menu will be lasagna, or vegetarian collage pie, with salad, followed by fruit crumble or fruit salad. Tea and coffee will be provided but please bring your own alcoholic drinks. Tickets now available from the Parish Office, cost £7.50 per person. Entertainment will follow the meal.
The minutes from the PCC meeting held on the 6th June 2019 are now on the website and also placed on the notice board in the south porch. Rev Jan
Bible Study Notes £4.60 (Sept – Dec 2019) N.B. price increase

Friends of St Peter-in -Thanet 100/200 club
We are hoping to start a 100/200 club to help with the maintenance and repair of the fabric of the church, and the expansion of the Garden of Remembrance. The idea is that a percentage of the income is given in prizes, with the remainder going towards the above. It is still in the planning stage, and we are looking for a volunteer to help set it up and then monitor the payments in and arrange the prize draws.
If you are interested in helping please see Richard, Don or Roger, or mention it to Rev Jan. Thank you.
Our church is taking part in the Eco Church Award Scheme run by arocha.org.uk. I have been asked by the PCC to lead on this. Awards are gained by our church “going green”. Please contact me for information or with comments, suggestions or ideas.
Following the last quinquennial report, there is a lot of work to be done on the roof and stonework of the church. Some of the stained-glass windows also need repairing. We are scheduling work to start from September onwards, and we hope the work can be carried out without too much inconvenience. The cost is likely to be in the region of £45,000. Richard Baker (Chair fabric Committee).
Children in Church
The new ‘Children’s Church’ starts today in the choir vestry after the notices with children returning back in to church at The Peace. It will comprise of a Bible story, activity and some music. If you would like your child to attend you will need to complete a Consent Form. Please contact Rev Jan (01843 869169, or ), or Toni Lawrence (01843602668, or ) Thank you.
Monday at 7
Our next event is a visit to the Battle of Britain Museum at Hawkinge, on Wednesday 11th September, meeting there at 2pm. Carol Lamont is organising this event, so please let her know if you would like to go, and whether you can give, or need a lift. Tel Carol at 01843 309728. Thank you.

Fundraising: Indoor Boot Fair
There will be another Boot Fair in the Community Hall on Saturday 21st September, starting at 9.00am and finishing at 12.00pm. Tables will be £10.00 each to hire and can be booked by calling at the Parish Office in Hopeville Avenue, Broadstairs CT10 2TR (open between 9.00am and 1.00pm weekdays) or by calling the office on 01843 866061. Tea, Coffee and other refreshments (especially hot bacon rolls!) will be available on the day. Tables for the September Boot Fair, the first since last spring, usually sell quite fast and the hall has only limited space, so book early to avoid disappointment.
Quiz Night The next Quiz Night will be on Friday 4th October 2019 and tickets are now available at £10.00 each. Tables will be arranged with up to eight players each so, if you or your friends would like to take part, book early to avoid disappointment. A Fish & Chip supper, which will be served during the interval is, as usual, included in the price (please let us know when buying your ticket if you would prefer something else). The doors will open at 6.30pm for a 7.00pm start and the quiz will, as usual, be devised and run by the immensely able Jane Green. If you or your friends would like tickets, please call at the Parish office (address above) or telephone on 01843 866061.

We are always SO grateful for the cash donations given each week at services. If you are a tax payer it would be an even greater benefit if you could put your donation in a completed yellow Gift Aid envelope so that we can recover the extra 25p in every pound given!
