Many people are kind enough to make monthly donations by Standing Order but find it awkward when the collection plate goes around as they have nothing to put in to indicate their giving. We have therefore introduced a Giving Token which can be collected when entering the church, and this can be placed in the collecting plate.

PCC Minutes

The minutes from the PCC meeting held on the 6th June 2019 are now on the website and also placed on the notice board in the south porch. Rev Jan

Friends of St Peter-in -Thanet 100/200 club

We are hoping to start a 100/200 club to help with the maintenance and repair of the fabric of the church, and the expansion of the Garden of Remembrance. The idea is that a percentage of the income is given in prizes, with the remainder going towards the above. It is still in the planning stage, and we are looking for a volunteer to help set it up and then monitor the payments in and arrange the prize draws.

If you are interested in helping please see Richard, Don or Roger, or mention it to Rev Jan. Thank you.

Fabric matters

Following the last quinquennial report, there is a lot of work to be done on the roof and stonework of the church. Some of the stained glass windows also need repairing. We are scheduling work to start from September onwards, and we hope the work can be carried out without too much inconvenience. The cost is likely to be in the region of £45,000. Richard Baker (Chair fabric Committee).

Children in Church

The new ‘Children’s Church’ will begin on the 1st September.  It will take place in the choir vestry after the notices with children returning back in to church at The Peace. It will comprise of a Bible story, activity and some music. If you would like your child to attend you will need to complete a Consent Form. Please contact Rev Jan (01843 869169, or ), or Toni Lawrence (01843602668, or ) Thank you.

Monday at 7

Fundraising Committee Report for Sunday 25th August 2019

Indoor Boot Fair

There will be another Boot Fair in the Main Hall on Saturday 21st September, starting at 9 am and finishing at 12.00pm. Tables are £10 each to hire and can be booked by calling at the Parish Office in Hopeville Avenue, Broadstairs CT10 2TR (open between 9.00am and 1.00pm weekdays) or by calling the office on 01843 866061. Tea, Coffee and other refreshments (especially hot bacon rolls!) will be available on the day. Tables for the September Boot Fair, the first since last spring, usually sell quite fast and the hall has only limited space, so book early to avoid disappointment.

Quiz Night

The next Quiz Night will be on Friday 4th October. Tickets (£10.00 each) will be available soon, and as usual, include a Fish & Chip supper which will be served during the interval (please let us know when buying your ticket if you would prefer something else). The doors will open at 6.30pm for a 7.00pm start and the quiz will, as usual, be devised and run by the immensely able Jane Green.

Loose Change Boxes – slowly & surely the total rises.

You may like to know that in a very short while we will have raised £7,000 from these boxes. A great achievement for all involved and many grateful thanks to everyone collecting. We have some regular, loyal contributors but there must be many others of you with boxes. Please continue to fill them and bring them into the office as soon as they are near to full for counting and return.

I also have more spare boxes for anyone who wants to join the scheme. Come on It’s very simple – any small change that is a nuisance just put the coins in the box and, as above, when convenient either bring it to the office or give me a ring to arrange collection. Don B for FR Team 602287
