OPEN GARDENS – 2 June
This second event was another resounding success, raising the church the magnificent sum of £1,285.75! Our thanks must go to Sue Brooks and her team of helpers and, of course, to those people who so kindly opened their gardens for the benefit of visitors. Our thanks too, to the Rev Jan for allowing us to use her garden for the final stage, offering visitors refreshments provided by our supporters.
We were blessed with fine weather but a strong wind in the morning successfully blew down two of the gazebos in Jan’s garden but mercifully, no one was injured and everyone had a thoroughly enjoyable day.
THANK YOU As a thank you to all those who volunteer in Church, Parish Office or within the halls in any capacity you are all invited to scones and tea at the Vicarage anytime between 3pm and 5pm – drop in anytime – on Saturday 13th July. There is a sign-up sheet in the office so that we have a rough idea of those who will be coming. Rev Jan.
Children in Church I am planning to set up a ‘Sunday School‘ to take place on the first Sunday of the month. It will take place in the choir vestry after the notices with children returning back in to church at The Peace. It will comprise of a Bible story, activity and some music. If you would like to be involved with this please contact me. Rev Jan (01843 869169, or ). The more helpers we have the better. Thank you

Fundraising Committee Report for Sunday 9th June 2019
Boot Fair – Saturday 8th June 2019
The boot fair scheduled for yesterday was very badly supported, only five tables having been sold by the beginning of the week. In light of this, the decision was taken to cancel the boot fair entirely, rather than try to go ahead with it with just a small scattering of tables in the hall. This decision was taken only with the greatest regret and I apologise to anyone who may have been inconvenienced. The only good news is that four of the five table holders have pre-purchased a slot at the next boot fair in September.
Railway Swing Band – Wednesday 26th June
Tickets for the Railway Swing Band concert are selling well, but there are still some available. However, if you haven’t bought yours yet, it might be as well to purchase them soon because the Community hall has a capacity limit and, if the hall fills up, you and your friends or relatives might be disappointed. The tickets are only £10.00 each and can be booked by calling at the Parish office in Hopeville Avenue or by calling on 01843 866061. The concert starts at 7.30pm and runs until 10.00pm, with a short interval during which refreshments, including wine, will be available, so please reserve the date in your diary. It is important for the church that this event is as big a success as possible, so come along and enjoy.
Incidentally, we will need a lot of helpers (the more the better) when the Swing Band comes to St. Peter’s so, if you can help out on that evening, please let us know.
St Peter’s Church Summer Fete Saturday 29th June, 10 am – 2 pm
We are looking for some quality pieces of bric-a-brac, some nice clothes, handbags, jewellery, and toys for our various stalls.
We also need lots of bottles of wine, and some nice prizes for out tombola stalls.
Please keep the items at home until week commencing Monday 24th June then bring them to the Parish Office between 10 am – 12 midday Monday to Friday. Don’t forget to buy and sell some of our raffle tickets.
If you can spare any time to help set up on Friday 28th June just come along to the hall between noon and 5 pm. The more the merrier. Thank you very much for your support! Roger Waddell, Fete Co-Ordinator.

We are always SO grateful for the cash donations given each week at services. If you are a tax payer it would be an even greater benefit if you could put your donation in a completed yellow Gift Aid envelope so that we can recover the extra 25p in every pound given!
