Can you help? Those who attended the APCM may recall that mention was made of an Endowment given to the church for the benefit of the upkeep of the churchyard and Garden of Remembrance.

The fund now stands at over £14,000 and we’re keen to hear if any of the longer serving parishioners might know the identity of the benefactor to enable us to clarify the exact terms of the endowment. If you do have any knowledge of this, please let me know. Robin Page, Treasurer.

The cardmakers were kept extremely busy supplying enough Easter Cards for sale in Church and the foyer. Thanks to all who supplied card fronts and cellophane bags. According to Robin our Treasurer, we did a good job for Church funds. A special mention to The St Peter’s Women’s Group who support the scheme so generously. Please keep the supply of card fronts and cellophane bags going. They can be left in the Church Office. Thank you. Jan Gee.

Holiday Club 2019 St Peter’s Churches will be holding their holiday club on 24th, 25th and 26th July, and as usual we will need as many willing volunteers as possible. If you feel you would like to help, there will be Holiday Club Meeting on May 24th from 5 until 6pm @ Queens Road Baptist Church. Please make every effort to be there – we need as many willing volunteers as possible…  If anyone wants anymore information then please email Rhodri or

Maggie:  or

Christian Aid Plant Stall in the hall foyer

Have you got your tomato plants yet? Or do you need something to fill that gap in the border or a new house plant?  Please come and have a look at the Plant Stall in the hall foyer after the main morning service today (coffee will also be served in the hall today), and during the coming week. You might find just what you are looking for.

Christian Aid House-to-house Collection 12-18 May

Thank you so much to those who have already volunteered to take part in this vital task to enable Christian Aid to continue its work.  We still need more volunteers, so if you think you could collect from a few houses near you, please contact me.   Elspeth Cooke (863293)

Guitar Recital

Next Sunday, 12th May at 3 pm at Holy Trinity Church, Broadstairs, Andrew Keeping (guitar) will be giving a recital of guitar classics. An afternoon not to be missed. Tickets £5 at the door.  All proceeds to Christian Aid.

Enquiring about the Christian Faith For those of you who are thinking about getting confirmed, or those who are already, but want to learn more about the Christian faith. The sessions will be held at the vicarage on Wednesday evening at 7pm on the 8th and 15th of May, 12th and 19th June, and 3rd and 31st July. PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF DATES. Please have a word with me if you are interested. Thank you, Rev’d Jan (01843 869169).

Monday @7: Our next event is on Monday 13th May, at 2.30pm, at the Walpole Bay Hotel at Cliftonville.  We will be having a talk by the owner of the hotel, followed by afternoon tea. The Croquet evening planned for June has had to be cancelled, due to insufficient numbers.  Any queries contact me, Marion Brown, Tel 604524, email . Thank you.

Archdeacon’s Visitation. The Visitation service, at which our two Churchwardens are sworn in for the coming year, will take place at Canterbury Cathedral on Wednesday 22nd May at 7.30 pm. This service is open to all, especially to those who have designated roles in the church, and it is hoped that some members of our congregation will also be there to show their support for Sylvia and Pauline.

Fundraising Committee Report for Sunday 5th May 2019

Barn Dance – Saturday 18th May

Tickets for the Barn Dance are now available. They are only £7.50 each and there will be a professional caller so, if you like a bit of dancing, come along, kick up your heels and have a great time! Even if you think your dancing days are over, why not come along just to enjoy the atmosphere and tap your feet to some Western-style music. Tell your friends, bring along your own drinks and nibbles and enjoy a lovely evening. Hope we will see you there!

Railway Swing Band – Wednesday 26th June

The Railway Swing Band is coming! They will be performing in the Main Hall on Wednesday 26th June. The concert starts at 7.30pm and runs until 10.00pm, with a short interval during which refreshments, including wine, will be available. Tickets £10 each are now available from the Parish Office. It is important for the church that this event be as big a success as possible and we are hoping to sell every seat in the hall, so please encourage everyone you know to buy a ticket. The band is terrific with 30 plus musicians and a couple of singers and it is a real treat for anyone who likes ‘swing’ music from the forties and fifties, so please come along if you can.

Incidentally, we will need a lot of helpers (the more the better) when the Swing Band comes to St. Peter’s. There will be more details later but, if you can help out on that evening, please let us know.

The Monday Home Group – 92 Dumpton Park Drive, Broadstairs

Although it’s a Bank Holiday, we are meeting on Monday 6th May at 2:30 pm to reflect on the glorious Bible accounts heard in Church on Sunday – and what Jesus’ resurrection means for us today.  Do please join us – you’d be most welcome.  If you want to know more, please do phone us on 863293.  Michael & Elspeth.

The Wednesday Home Group: Details of the next meeting and date TBC. Any queries, please contact June Binfield, 01843 861286 or 07711 072233.

We are always SO grateful for the cash donations given each week at services. If you are a tax payer it would be an even greater benefit if you could put your donation in a completed yellow Gift Aid envelope so that we can recover the extra 25p in every pound given!
