The Annual Meeting for St Peter’s church will take place in the Community Hall today Sunday 7th April at 11am.  This is a meeting of those whose names are on the Civil Electoral Roll of the civil parish and/or those whose names are on the Electoral Roll of the Parish Church. Anyone on either of these rolls can attend and vote. At this meeting, we will elect our two Churchwardens for the next year.

This will be followed by the ANNUAL PAROCHIAL CHURCH MEETING (APCM) at which we need to appoint three more members of the Parochial Church Council.

All lay persons whose names are on the Electoral Roll of the Parish Church shall be entitled to attend this meeting, and no other person shall be so entitled. A Clerk in Holy Orders shall be entitled to attend and take part in the proceedings if s/he is licensed to the parish, resident in the parish, or is a habitual worshipper in the parish.

Please do consider standing for one of these posts – but each nomination must have a proposer and a seconder please. The necessary forms can be found by the South Porch. If you have any questions do please ask me. Rev’d Jan

The Agendas for both meetings along with the reports for the APCM, are by the South Porch. Please do take home and read.

On Monday 15th April at 6.30 pm we will be holding a Seder Meal (Passover Supper) in the main hall. During this meal we will participate in history’s most ancient and continually observed festival. We shall participate in the Exodus from Egypt and we will recall that Jesus observed Passover with his disciples on the night before he died. You are all most welcome. There is no charge (donation plate instead) but we do need numbers by today Sunday 7th April. Please tell Simon in the office, or phone me, Rev Jan (01843 869169).

Monday @7: Our next event is lunch at The Jolly Farmer, Manston, tomorrow Monday 8th April at 1pm. Any queries, contact Marion Brown, Tel 604524, email . Thank you.

SUGAR I am making more preserves to sell at the Boot Fairs as well as our summer and autumn Fairs, so if anyone would like to donate a bag of sugar to help me, it would be very much appreciated. Many thanks, Marion Brown.

Easter cards are now on sale until the 14th April during coffee time and in the Church Hall foyer. They are priced at 30p or 40p and all funds raised will help with the running of our church. Jan Gee.

Easter Lilies If you would like to donate £3 for a lily stem, in memory of a loved one, which will be used in our Easter Church flower decorations. Please put your donation in an envelope with the name clearly of the person(s) to be remembered on the outside of the envelope and hand it into the parish Office (outside office hours can be placed in Main Hall letterbox). The list of names will be on the altar for our services on Easter Sunday.

ENQUIRING ABOUT THE CHRISTIAN FAITH For those of you who are thinking about getting confirmed, or those who are already, but want to learn more about the Christian faith. The sessions will be held at the vicarage on Wednesday evening at 7pm on the 8th and 15th of May , 12th and 19th June, and 3rd and 31st July. PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF DATES. Please have a word with me if you are interested. Thank you, Rev’d Jan (01843 869169).

Please help with the House-to house Collection during Christian Aid Week 12-18 May

The sign-up list for Christian Aid collecting is now available near the south door of the church.  Please give prayerful thought to being part of this year’s team and collecting from a street near you or even just a few houses.  We very much need new collectors as some of those who have collected faithfully for many years are sadly no longer able to do so and there are many streets we do not cover.  For more information about what is involved, please do contact me. Many thanks. Elspeth Cooke (863293)

Boot Fair – 27th April

The next Boot Fair will take place on Saturday 27th April. If you would like to take up a table, please apply to the Parish office in person or call on 01843 866061.

Raffle Prizes

We have several events coming up for which we will need raffle prizes and, even though we still have some ‘in stock’, we need some more to avoid running out. If you have anything at home which you can donate, we would be very grateful.

‘The Christ We Share’ – Monday afternoons in Lent: 2:30 pm at 92 Dumpton Park Drive “A picture can be worth 1000 words” – we will be reflecting for an hour each week on images of Christ from across the world. Marvelling at some of the perhaps surprising insights from other cultures, we look forward to being more inspired by and confident in the Lord we try to serve.  If you’d like to take part in such a journey of encouragement, please join us. Do phone us on 863293 if you’d like more details. Michael & Elspeth Cooke.

The Wednesday Home GroupWe will meet on the 10th April at St. Leu at 2.30 pm when we will look at the Lord’s Passion through the eyes of Mary Magdalen, using The Nail by Stephen Cottrell. You are very welcome if you would like to join us.  June. ( or 07711 072233).

We are always SO grateful for the cash donations given each week at services. If you are a tax payer it would be an even greater benefit if you could put your donation in a completed yellow Gift Aid envelope so that we can recover the extra 25p in every pound given!
