A huge thank you to all who helped last Friday clean the church inside and outside. With all the willing helpers many jobs were done which would have taken the fabric committee and cleaners many hours. I am sure you will notice how nice the church looks on your next visit. Thank you again. Richard Baker (Chair Fabric committee)

ANNUAL PAROCHIAL MEETING

The Annual Meeting for St Peter’s church will take place in the Community Hall on Sunday 7th April at 11am.  This is a meeting of those whose names are on the Civil Electoral Roll of the civil parish and/or those whose names are on the Electoral Roll of the Parish Church. Anyone on either of these rolls can attend and vote. At this meeting, we will elect our two Churchwardens for the next year.

This will be followed by the ANNUAL PAROCHIAL CHURCH MEETING (APCM) at which we need to appoint three more members of the Parochial Church Council.

All lay persons whose names are on the Electoral Roll of the Parish Church shall be entitled to attend this meeting, and no other person shall be so entitled. A Clerk in Holy Orders shall be entitled to attend and take part in the proceedings if s/he is licensed to the parish, resident in the parish, or is a habitual worshipper in the parish.

Please do consider standing for one of these posts – but each nomination must have a proposer and a seconder please. The necessary forms can be found by the South Porch. If you have any questions do please ask me. Rev’d Jan

The Agendas for both meetings along with the reports for the APCM, are by the South Porch. Please do take home and read.

Mothering Sunday 31st March As usual, we will be making small posies for the children to give to their mothers at the 9.30 service. If you would like to donate flowers, suitable greenery or money towards these please contact me in church or Tel 225801, email . Many thanks. Pauline Osborne

ENQUIRING ABOUT THE CHRISTIAN FAITH For those of you who are thinking about getting confirmed, or those who are already, but want to learn more about the Christian faith. The sessions will be held at the vicarage on Wednesday evening at 7pm on the 8th, 15th, 22nd of May and 5th, 12th and 19th June. Please have a word with me if you are interested. Thank you, Rev’d Jan (01843 869169).

CHURCHES TOGETHER IN BROADSTAIRS & ST PETERS There will be a Lent lecture at St Andrew’s church hall on Saturday 6th April at 12 Noon. The speaker will be the Rev’d Kerry Thorpe, and will be followed by a soup lunch.

Easter cards are now on sale until the 14th April during coffee time and in the Church Hall foyer. They are priced at 30p or 40p and all funds raised will help with the running of our church. Jan Gee.

Monday @7: Our next event is on Monday 8th April, at 1pm, for lunch at The Jolly Farmer, Manston. If you have not let me know if you are coming, please let Carol Lamont know, and she will show you the menus, as we have to pre order.  Also, if you are coming to the Walpole Bay Hotel on Monday 13th May, you will need to pay a £5 deposit asap. Carol will be collecting these too.  Thank you, Marion Brown

The Winter Shelter. This year the Winter Shelter continues to the end of March so I will be collecting gifts for today and one more Sunday in March. Anything to help the providers of the Church Halls used overnight as Shelters such as cleaning things and lavatory paper or personal toiletries will help. Also the Homeless are out on the streets all day, so anything in the way of warm items will be very useful. You have been very generous all winter! Thank you, June. ( or 07711 072233).

ST PETER’S WOMEN’S GROUP.

In April we have two very interesting speakers to which guests are invited:

02 April: Sue Shaw: Chelsea Flower Show

16 April: Toni Mount: They dared to be doctors

Please join us (£3) if either or both topics appeal at the Portland Centre, 7.30pm, including a raffle, tea/coffee and biscuits. Please let me know so we can welcome you Gill Lovelock: 861094

Fundraising Committee Report for Sunday 17th March 2019

Indoor Boot Fair – 23rd March

All the Boot Fair tables have now been sold. However, if you didn’t get around to hiring one, but would like to, our next Boot Fair is being held on Saturday 27th April so book early to avoid disappointment. In any event, come along on 23rd March just to browse or buy – and bring your friends too!

Quiz Night – 5th April

Most of the tables for the next Quiz Night have now been sold but, if you would like to take part, there are still a few left. You can either form a team of your own or come along as a couple or a group, or even by yourself. You can book your place by getting in contact with the Parish Office on 01843 866061, or drop by in person between 9.00am and 1.00pm on any weekday. Tickets are £10.00 each, but Fish and Chips, served during the interval, are part of the price and, if past events are anything to go by, a good time will be had by all!  Alternatively, you can express an interest by email or on the church’s Facebook site. However, bookings can’t be confirmed until payment is made.  All you would have to do is to bring along your own cutlery, glasses and drinks. Hope we see you there!

Raffle Prizes

We have several events coming up for which we will need raffle prizes and, even though we still have some ‘in stock’, we need some more to avoid running out. If you have anything at home which you can donate, we would be very grateful.

‘The Christ We Share’ – Monday afternoons in Lent: 2:30 pm at 92 Dumpton Park Drive “A picture can be worth 1000 words” – we will be reflecting for an hour each week on images of Christ from across the world. Marvelling at some of the perhaps surprising insights from other cultures, we look forward to being more inspired by and confident in the Lord we try to serve.  If you’d like to take part in such a journey of encouragement, please join us. Do phone us on 863293 if you’d like more details. Michael & Elspeth Cooke.

The Wednesday Home GroupWe will meet on the 20th March at St. Leu at 2.30 pm when we will look at the Lord’s Passion through the eyes of one of the key witnesses, using The Nail by Stephen Cottrell. On the following Wednesdays we will follow three more witnesses. You are very welcome if you would like to join us.
