Dates for your diary

ASH WEDNESDAY 6th March. This year we will be holding a sung Eucharist at 10am on Ash Wednesday. There will be no evening service.

There will be NO 8am service on the 17th March as I would like to encourage all the congregation to come to the 9:30 service when the Archdeacon will install me (Rev Jan) as your vicar. This will be followed by cake and prosecco.

The Taize service in March will be on the fourth Sunday of the month (24th March) instead of the third (17th March). No evening service on the 17th March

Annual Parochial Church Meeting Sunday April 7th at 11am in Parish and Community Halls. Please note change of date.

The PCC have applied for a faculty to build a display table over the first pew in the South aisle. Full details of the application are available in the Parish office, and the plans are on the notice board in the church porch.

If you wish to discuss it, or have any comments or objections please see Richard Baker or a member of the Fabric Committee. Richard Baker Chair Fabric Committee

Monday @ 7: Our next event is on Monday February 18th, at Pauline Osborne’s house, 440 Northdown Road, CT9 3LD.  We are having a very interesting talk on Japan, 7 for 7.30pm.  If you haven’t already done so, please let me know if you are coming. Contact Marion Brown, Tel 604524, email . Thank you.

Renewal of the Church Electoral Roll 2019. Has now commenced and will be completed on Sunday 17th March. After that no further names can be added to the Roll until after the APCM on Sunday 7th April. Even if your name has been on a previous Electoral Roll, you need to complete an application form, which will be in Church and the Church Office, to be included in the Church Electoral Roll from the APCM. Caroline Pile, Electoral Roll Officer.

Come and Sing! The choir will be presenting a choral performance here at church on Palm Sunday, 14th April 2019, 4.00pm. You are invited to join us for this performance. All singers welcome. The repertoire will be Haydn’s Little Organ Mass and some anthems appropriate for Lent. Rehearsals are Fridays 7.15 to 8.15pm in church.

Fundraising Committee Report for Sunday 10th February 2019

Tea and Beetle Drive

Quite a lot of tickets for the ‘Tea and Beetle Drive’ event have already been sold and, now that it has been advertised more widely, I very much hope that we will sell many more. It should, hopefully, appear in next Friday’s Thanet Gazette as well as on Tesco’s Community notice board, and on the local Council notice boards too. If you would like to come along on Tuesday 19th February from 2.30pm to 4.30pm, and perhaps bring the family too, you can buy tickets at the Parish office for £5.00 each (adults) and £3.00 for children. You will have to book in advance though, because we won’t be selling tickets ‘on the door’. We will need to know in advance how many are coming so that we can judge the amount of cake that we will need. Essential! There will be a raffle too, so it should be a lot of fun for everyone.

Talking of cake, we will need some kind people to get their baking hats on to make some to give to the players at the Tea and Beetle Drive. Without cake, the whole event will be a bit of a flop so, if you feel like making a cake or two, or perhaps a lot of small ones, we would be very grateful. Marion Brown is the ‘cake co-coordinator’ for the day, so please get in touch with her to discuss the kind of cake we need and how much. If you need Marion’s phone number, the Parish office will have it.

Indoor Boot Fair

Don’t forget that we have another Boot Fair organised for Saturday 23rd March. Tables are, as usual, £10.00 each so, if you would like to have one, contact the Parish office between 9.00am and 1.00pm on weekdays. Alternatively, you might like to just come along and browse and perhaps by a few things. Don’t forget – Saturday 23rd March!

Quiz Night

There will be another Quiz Night (the new name for Wine and Wisdom) on Friday 5th April. More details later but, if you are interested, mark the date in your diary and tell your friends about it.

Raffle Prizes

We have quite a few prizes now, but we can always do with more so – keep ‘em coming – and a huge Thank You to all the kind and generous givers.

Monday Home Group

We reflect in music and word on the Bible readings heard in church the previous day.  Meeting at 2:30pm at 92 Dumpton Park Drive, we welcome anyone who’d like to come, even as a one off:  we finish at around 4pm with tea and biscuits.  If you’d like to know more, please do phone us on 863293.  Michael & Elspeth Cooke.

The Wednesday Home Group.

The Wednesday group will meet in Lent at St. Leu at 2.30 pm, beginning on 6th March and every Wednesday thereafter until the 10th April. We will use The Nail by Stephen Cottrell. We will look at the crucifixion through the eyes of six key witnesses in each of the six sessions. If you have any questions, contact June, ( , 07711 072233 or 01843 861286.).
