The Thanet Winter Shelter is starting on 19th November and this year it will run until the end of March. You were all so generous last year and the need is as great as ever. Please can you start bringing things in, there is a box in Church and you can also donate in the Parish Office. For the first few weeks please bring any of the following: puzzle books, adult colouring books, gloves, hats, socks or men’s toiletries so that we can help in a practical way. I will take your gifts weekly to the Salvation Army, who will see they go to the homeless, who are using the Shelter. Thank you, June.

St Peter’s Women’s Group Please join us on Tuesday 20th November 2018 @7.30 pm in the Portland Hall for a talk ‘A World of Lavender’ by Dr Simon Charlesworth from Downderry Farm. Reflections on Advent through Art, Music and Word

Following last year’s much appreciated pattern, we look forward again to three Monday afternoons in December quietly contemplating together some of the great themes of the Advent season.  We warmly welcome anyone who’d like to join us for such times of stillness in what can otherwise seem a very busy season.

To help us, we will draw on some of the art, pictures, music and Bible passages associated with the season – and by special request this year, we’ll also take time each week to reflect on one or two of the great Advent hymns with the glorious affirmations they portray.

The themes for each week will broadly be
3rd December     John the Baptist (who heralds the Coming)
10th December   Mary (Mother of God)
17th December   Emmanuel (God with us – Indeed, “Come, Lord Jesus!”)

We meet at 92 Dumpton Park Drive CT10 1RL, the home of Michael & Elspeth Cooke; each session will start at 2:30 pm and end at around 4 pm with tea and biscuits.

If you’d like to know more, please do phone us on 863293. Michael & Elspeth Cooke.

Monday @ 7: Our next event will be our Christmas Dinner at the Golf Club, on Monday 3rd December.  It should be an enjoyable evening, and I look forward to seeing you all there.  Any queries, please contact Marion Brown, Tel 604524, email  Thank you.

Christmas Tree Festival 2018

This will be held over the weekend of the 14th, 15th and 16th December. More details to follow over the next few weeks.

Fundraising Committee Report for Sunday 18th November 2018

Indoor Boot Fair

The Indoor Boor Fair took place as planned, on Saturday (yesterday). I’ll make a more detailed report at a later date when all the figures are finally confirmed.

Parish Festive Fayre, November 24th, 10AM-2PM

Just one week to go!

Just a reminder about sorting out some things for the FESTIVE FAYRE please. The date is Saturday 24th and we need prizes and bottles for the tom-bola stalls and raffle, good clean clothes, bric-a-brac, toys, jewellery, bags and scarves, CDs and DVDs, Jigsaws, and Christmas decorations.
Contributions can be taken to the Parish Office starting tomorrow Monday 19th Nov (between 10am and noon if possible, please).

Helpers needed please, to set up the hall on Friday 23rd, between 11am and 7pm. If you can spend an hour or more, that would be great.

With your help, it will be another great fund-raising success and a big thank you in advance, to our 100-strong team of helpers, and to all the others who will come and support us on the 24th by spending their money with us.

Roger Waddell, Fayre Co-Ordinator.

Fund Raising 2019

The Fund Raising Committee has been meeting regularly over the past few months and we have put together a programme of events for next year which we are sure you will find exciting. We have more Boot Fairs, a ‘Tea and Beetle Drive’, another Quiz night or two, a Barn Dance and a Fashion Show plus, of course, the Summer Fete, and that’s just so far! We are also looking into the possibility of running one or two new events that we haven’t tried before. All in all it will be quite a busy year so, watch this space! The first 2019 event will be another Boot Fair on Saturday 26th January.

Monday Home Group 2:30pm at 92 Dumpton Park Drive, Broadstairs CT10 1RL

We spend about an hour reflecting on the Bible Readings heard the previous day in church, and follow this with tea and fellowship.  As each week is a therefore “stand-alone”, newcomers to the group are always most welcome.  We find it’s a good way of meeting informally for support and encouragement.  If you’d like to know more, please do phone Michael or Elspeth on 863293.

Wednesday Home Group

We meet again on Wednesday 5th December, 2.30pm, at St Leu, when we will begin our Advent course looking at a very recently published book by Tom Wright called ‘Advent for Everyone’. A journey through Luke.

If you want to know more about this or would like to join us, please ring John Cox on 07989057737.

We are always SO grateful for the cash donations given each week at services.

If you are a tax payer it would be an even greater benefit if you could put your donation in a completed yellow Gift Aid envelope so that we can recover the extra 25p  in every pound given!
