* Do you shop on-line? Books, travel, hotels, food, presents, household items etc etc.
With Christmas fast approaching and at no cost to you, a % of the cost of your purchase could be benefiting St Peter’s Church. Some are already doing this, which is great, and in recent years we have raised nearly £350 by this means, but we could be doing SO MUCH BETTER!
Here’s how:
To ensure you cover approx 90% of all retailers, please register with the following two (very reputable!) websites:
· and when asked, the charity you want to support is: St Peter-in-Thanet Church-Broadstairs. and when asked, the charity you want to support is: The Parochial Church Council of the Ecclesiastical Parish of St Peter-in-Thanet.
Once you have registered (a very simple job), please then don’t forget to open the sites first before you make any purchase and the site will then automatically donate to St Peter’s -easy!

We have about 20 in the Church who are registered already, so let’s see if we can at least double this number (and our income from it) soon!

The Thanet Winter Shelter is starting on 19th November and this year it will run until the end of March. You were all so generous last year and the need is as great as ever. Please can you start bringing things for next Sunday, November 4th.  We will have a box in Church and you can also donate in the Parish Office. For the first few weeks please bring any of the following: puzzle books, adult colouring books, gloves, hats, socks or men’s toiletries so that we can help in a practical way. I will take your gifts weekly to the Salvation Army, who will see they go to the homeless, who are using the Shelter. Thank you, June.

Battle’s Over, A nation’s tribute, 100 Years of Remembrance here at St Peter’s Church we will be holding a Vigil Service commemorating the Centenary of the end of the First World War, at 6:30 pm on Sunday 11th November 2018. Which will include our Bell Ringers with the Ringing Out for Peace at 7.05 pm. A 1000 cathedrals and churches will ring out their bells across the nation, and beyond, in celebration of Peace.

Samaritan’s Purse/ Operation Christmas Child Please join in the Operation Christmas Child this year. Completed boxes can be left in the office between 1st and 18th November during the mornings. Thank you for your help in the past and we look forward to this year’s collection. Fundraising Committee Report for Sunday 4th November 2018

Wine & Wisdom

The ‘Wine & Wisdom’ event on Friday 2nd went very well, as usual, and all possible thanks to Jane Green for her work in making the event the success it was. This was the last ‘Wine and Wisdom’ event though – next time it will be called ‘Quiz Night’!

Raffle Prizes

Every thanks to those who so kindly donated prizes for us to raffle at the various events which we run. While there is not the urgency that there was a few weeks ago (when we were almost out of prizes completely – a great embarrassment when running a raffle!), we will always need donations from generous people like you, so please don’t forget us. We can always do with more.

Indoor Boot Fair

Good news! Every table for the next Boot Fair has now been sold, so remember the date – November 17th – so come along and make the day a big success. There will even be hot bacon rolls! ‘Flyers’ are available in the Hall foyer and the office if you would like to hand them out to friends.

Parish Festive Fayre, November 24th, 10AM-2PM

Just a reminder about sorting out some things for the FESTIVE FAYRE please. The date is Saturday 24th and we need prizes and bottles for the tom-bola stalls and raffle, good clean clothes, bric-a-brac, toys, jewellery, bags and scarves, CDs and DVDs, Jigsaws, and Christmas decorations.
Please bring your contributions to the Halls Office in the mornings of week-commencing 19th Nov (between 10am and noon if possible please)There is a meeting this Monday 5th in the Main Hall at 6pm for stall Holders and helpers, to sort out any queries that may be of concern.

I also require two strong people on Wednesday 21st November at 3.30pm to help me remove the books from under the Portland Centre and take them into the Portland Hall for sorting, and then replacing them when the job is completed. Please let me know if you could give me a hand with this?

Helpers are also needed please, to set up the hall on Friday 23rd too, between 11am and 7pm. If you can spend an hour or more, that would be great.

With your help, it will be another great fund-raising success and a big thank you in advance, to our 100-strong team of helpers, and to all the others who will come and support us on the 24th by spending their money with us.

Roger Waddell, Fayre Co-Ordinator.

Fund Raising 2019

Monday Home Group 2:30pm at 92 Dumpton Park Drive, Broadstairs CT10 1RL

We spend about an hour reflecting on the Bible Readings heard the previous day in church, and follow this with tea and fellowship.  As each week is a therefore “stand-alone”, newcomers to the group are always most welcome.  We find it’s a good way of meeting informally for support and encouragement.  If you’d like to know more, please do phone Michael or Elspeth on 863293.

Wednesday Home Group

We meet again on Wednesday 7th November, 2.30pm, at St Leu.

When John Cox will talk about the Saints

If you want to know more about this and perhaps would like to join us, please ring John Cox on 07989 057737.

We are always SO grateful for the cash donations given each week at services.

If you are a tax payer it would be an even greater benefit

if you could put your donation in a completed yellow

Gift Aid envelope so that we can recover the extra 25p

in every pound given!
