A Time to Remember next Sunday 4th November we will be holding our Annual Time to Remember Service in church at 4pm. The service will include familiar hymns and prayers of comfort, and loved ones will be remembered by name. There will also be an opportunity to light a candle in memory of those you have loved who have died. If you would like the name of a loved one read out at this service, please add their name to the sheet in church or in the office by Wednesday 31st October. Thank you Rev’d. Jan
Battle’s Over, A nation’s tribute, 100 Years of Remembrance here at St Peter’s Church we will be holding a Vigil Service commemorating the Centenary of the end of the First World War, at 6:30 pm on Sunday 11th November 2018. Which will include our Bell Ringers with the Ringing Out for Peace at 7.05 pm. A 1000 cathedrals and churches will ring out their bells across the nation, and beyond, in celebration of Peace.
The choir members are collecting Christmas items for their stall at the Christmas Fair and would be very grateful for any donations of old decorations, baubles, tinsel etc. Anything Christmassy, even if broken or old can be recycled. Thank you, Sue Barker.
Samaritan’s Purse/ Operation Christmas Child Please join in the Operation Christmas Child this year. There are leaflets in both the Church and Parish Office- “How to pack your Christmas Shoebox Gift”. Shoe boxes can be obtained at shoe shops, or already decorated flat pack boxes priced at 30p from the Parish Office & Church. The suggested postage and packing donation this year is £5, perhaps this cost and the contents could be shared between two people. Fundraising Committee Report for Sunday 28th October 2018
Wine & Wisdom
Any more for the Wine & Wisdom on Friday 2nd November? A quiz, Fish & Chip served at your table and all for only £9.00 per head! Come along, bring your friends and enjoy (but bring your own cutlery and drinks). You can get your tickets by calling in at the Parish Office between 9.00am and 1.00pm on weekdays, by leaving an email on or by telephoning the office on 01843 866061. Hope to see you there.
As I wrote last week, we always hold a raffle at event such as Wine & Wisdom, talks, dances etc. but we obviously need items to use as prizes and we are currently very short of such articles. Despite some kind people bringing things in, we can always use some more so, if you have anything that you could donate to us as a possible prize, please think of our events. They are always a lot of fun, bring in much needed funds for the church and the raffles are always popular. It doesn’t have to be big or expensive, just unused (or only very slightly used), clean and presentable. Leave any donations in the Parish Office during opening hours and we will pick them up.
Indoor Boot Fair
Good news! Every table for the next Boot Fair has now been sold, so remember the date – November 17th so come along and make the day a big success. There will even be hot bacon rolls! ‘Flyers’ are available in the Hall foyer and the office if you would like to hand them out to friends.
PARISH FESTIVE FAYRE, NOVEMBER 24th, 10AM-2PM
Preparations for the Festive Fayre are under way and I hope that all the helpers from last year (with a few exceptions that I am aware of), will be willing to help again on Saturday Nov 24th.and are well on with their planning.
I have been asked to hold a helpers planning meeting this year, so have booked the Main Hall for November 5th at 6pm for a 20 minute meeting. If you have any questions or worries, please let me know at that meeting, so that we have time to sort them out. Anybody who would like to help with this important Parish Fund Raising event is welcome to attend. Alternatively let me know if you are a new helper this year and I will find you a job on the day.
As usual, we will be preparing the Main Hall on the Friday morning of 23rd Nov after 11am, and setting up the stalls from about 2pm. As many helpers as possible are required, so don’t be shy, come along and help, even if for just an hour.
It’s time to begin sorting out some quality bric-a-brac, bottles, and Tom-bola prizes for our stalls, but please don’t bring them in yet. Space is very limited, so we don’t need it until week commencing 19th. The office is open to accept it from 9am to 1pm. 19th -23rd Nov. Please put the dates in your diary and tell your friends.
Thanks very much to you all in anticipation of your help. Roger Waddell, Fayre Co-Ordinator

Monday Home Group 2:30pm at 92 Dumpton Park Drive, Broadstairs CT10 1RL
We spend about an hour reflecting on the Bible Readings heard the previous day in church, and follow this with tea and fellowship. As each week is a therefore “stand-alone”, newcomers to the group are always most welcome. We find it’s a good way of meeting informally for support and encouragement. If you’d like to know more, please do phone Michael or Elspeth on 863293.
Wednesday Home Group
This will meet again on Wednesday 7th November, 2.30pm, at St Leu.

We are always SO grateful for the cash donations given
each week at services.

if you could put your donation in a completed yellow
Gift Aid envelope so that we can recover the extra 25p
in every pound given!
