Garden of Remembrance Good News! After a lot of hard work from a number of people – getting permissions, quotes and funding – remedial work by Contractors PA Hollingworth & Co will start in the Garden the week commencing 22 Oct. Please be aware that there may be some disruption to the Garden during the project. Lists of the works to be completed are in the Parish Office and on the gate to the Garden for anyone interested. To All at St. Peter-in-Thanet Thank you so much for your kind donation of £145.50 given from your Harvest collection. We are so grateful; for this donation and you can be assured that it will be used to meet the needs of those who find themselves without food within the Thanet area. Samaritan’s Purse/ Operation Christmas Child Please join in the Operation Christmas Child this year. There are leaflets in both the Church and Parish Office- “How to pack your Christmas Shoebox Gift”. Shoe boxes can be obtained at shoe shops, or already decorated flat pack boxes priced at 30p from the Parish Office & Church. The suggested postage and packing donation this year is £5, perhaps this cost and the contents could be shared between two people. Completed boxes can be left in the office between 1st and 18th November during the mornings. Thank you for your help in the past and we look forward to this year’s collection. A Time to Remember Sunday 4th November we will be holding our Annual Time to Remember Service in church at 4pm. The service will include familiar hymns and prayers of comfort, and loved ones will be remembered by name. There will also be an opportunity to light a candle in memory of those you have loved who have died. If you would like the name of a loved one read out at this service, please add their name to the sheet in church or in the office by Wednesday 31st October. Thank you Rev’d. Jan

Christmas Tree Festival 2018 Would you, your business, you club or youth group like to be represented at this popular event which will be held this year from 14th to 16th December? We hope as many as possible will join us again this year and newcomers are always welcome. This year the theme is My Favourite Christmas Carol and as usual we only require a donation of at least £15 for the tree, one to one and a half metres high, which is yours to take home afterwards if you wish. Wine & Wisdom
Plans for the Wine & Wisdom quiz event on 2nd November are proceeding apace, but there are still some tables available so, if you, your family or your friends are good at quizzes and up for a fun night out, why not book a table. It’s only £9 per head and you get Fish and Chips served at your table as part of the price so why not book up? You can get your tickets by calling in at the Parish Office between 9.00am and 1.00pm on weekdays, by leaving an email on or by telephoning the office on 01843 866061. Hope to see you there.
We always hold a raffle at event such as Wine & Wisdom, talks, dances etc. but we are now very short of suitable prizes. Do you have anything that you could donate to us as a possible prize? It doesn’t have to be big or expensive, just something that you have at home and don’t want or were given at some past time and have no use for. The only prerequisite is that the items should be unused (or only very slightly used), clean and presentable. Leave any donations in the Parish Office during opening hours and we will pick them up.
Indoor Boot Fair (another one!)
The Boot Fair will take place on November 17th so, if you would like to come please put the date in your diary and make the day a big success. There are ‘flyers’ available in the Hall foyer and the office if you would like to hand them out to friends.
PARISH FESTIVE FAYRE, NOVEMBER 24th, 10AM-2PM
Preparations for the Festive Fayre are under way and I hope that all the helpers from last year (with a few exceptions that I am aware of), will be willing to help again on Saturday Nov 24th.and are well on with their planning.
I have been asked to hold a helpers planning meeting this year, so have booked the Main Hall for November 5th at 6pm for a 20 minute meeting. If you have any questions or worries, please let me know at that meeting, so that we have time to sort them out. Anybody who would like to help with this important Parish Fund Raising event is welcome to attend. Alternatively let me know if you are a new helper this year and I will find you a job on the day.
As usual, we will be preparing the Main Hall on the Friday morning of 23rd Nov after 11am, and setting up the stalls from about 2pm. As many helpers as possible are required, so don’t be shy, come along and help, even if for just an hour.
It’s time to begin sorting out some quality bric-a-brac, bottles, and Tom-bola prizes for our stalls, but please don’t bring them in yet. Space is very limited, so we don’t need it until week commencing 19th. The office is open to accept it from 9am to 1pm. 19th -23rd Nov. Please put the dates in your diary and tell your friends.

We spend about an hour reflecting on the Bible Readings heard the previous day in church, and follow this with tea and fellowship. As each week is a therefore “stand-alone”, newcomers to the group are always most welcome. We find it’s a good way of meeting informally for support and encouragement. If you’d like to know more, please do phone Michael or Elspeth on 863293.
