HARVEST FESTIVAL

Will be held on Sunday 30th September when we will be joined by the Uniformed Organisations. We will be donating all food stuffs to Thanet Food Link who are asking for the following items: Breakfast cereals, pasta, long life milk, soup, tinned rice pudding, tinned vegetables and biscuits. Thank you in advance for your generosity.

Friends of Kent Churches – Ride and Stride, 8th September

Thank you very much to those who strode (Daniel, John and Mary) and rode (David and Patrick – albeit a ‘practice ride’ in readiness for next year!).  Between them all they covered around forty miles and were warmly welcomed to many churches.  No complaints of sore feet or bottoms so well done all of you.

Grateful thanks also to those who stewarded in St. Peters throughout the day – it is so important that we are able to give a personal welcome to participants.

I will be in a position to let you know how much was raised at the end of next month.  Thank you again everybody. Sally Wood (Local Organiser)

Monday @ 7:

We had a nice meal together at the Captain Digby last Monday, there were 21 of us.   Our next event is on Monday 1st October at 7pm, at 21 Fig Tree Road.  We are having a talk on ‘Memories of the Met’, by an ex Policewoman.  I need to know if you are coming or not asap, as I have to get things organised with June, by 19th September please.  Please contact me, Marion Brown, Tel 604524, email   Thank you.

Jam Jars

A huge thank you to everyone who has left jam jars and sugar for me, to make preserves for the Church.  I now have enough jars for the foreseeable future!  Thanks again, Marion Brown

Harvest Supper

Harvest Supper will be held on Sunday 30th September 2018, 6pm for 6.30pm in the main church hall. The menu will be cottage pie (or vegetarian option) and fresh vegetables. There will be a variety of desserts. Bring your own alcohol. There will be entertainment. Tickets now available at £8 per person from the Parish Office.

Please indicate any dietary requirements on the booking sheet or contact Sylvia Mills on 865874.

The Card makers have had two Christmas card making sessions recently, with more to come. You are managing to keep us well supplied with card fronts and cellophane wrappers – thank you.  We have permission from Rev’d Jan and Pauline to sell Christmas cards at coffee time after the 9.30 Service. We will start this on the first Sunday in October. Cards of all varieties will continue to be sold in the foyer of the Church Hall. Jan Gee.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING ON SUNDAY 2 JUNE 2019?

I hope that at least some of you will be visiting our second OPEN GARDENS event…

We would so love to build on the success of this year’s inaugural event.  Our target then had been to raise £200 (enough to run the church for a day).  Thanks to the generosity of all you lovely gardeners and attendees we raised over £1400

Enough to run our church for a whole week!

So once again I am appealing for anyone who would like to share their garden AND who lives within walking distance of the church to get in touch with me.  We need a minimum of six gardens to make the event viable.  The commitment would only be to open from 1pm to 5 pm on Sunday 2nd June 2019.  Help with stewarding will be available if required.

Please consider if you can help us. THANK YOU

If you want to know more or are able to help, please contact me by phone or e mail, or see me at church. Sue Brooks phone 01843 604700 (answerphone always available) email

Fundraising Committee Report for Sunday 16th September

Indoor Boot Fair

Don’t forget the Indoor Boot Fair, which we are running on Saturday 22nd September, 9 am – 12 midday.  There are still some tables left at a rate of £10.00 each and refreshments will also be available. If you or anyone you know, would like to take up a table, please apply to the Parish Office.

Choral Concert

Another event worth remembering is the Choral Concert on Saturday 6th October.  The Thanet Community Gospel Choir and the Kent Show Choir will be taking part in a Concert of Choral Music in St. Peter’s Church which will begin at 7.30pm and refreshments, including wine, will be available during the interval. Tickets are priced at £5.50 each and can be bought from the Parish Office. Events of this kind which we have held in the past have proved to be delightful and the 6th October concert promises to be no different. If your friends and family would like to come, then bring them along too! See you there on the night.

Monday Home Group 2:30pm at 92 Dumpton Park Drive, Broadstairs CT10 1RL

We spend about an hour reflecting on the Bible Readings heard the previous day in church, and follow this with tea and fellowship.  As each week is a therefore “stand-alone”, newcomers to the group are always most welcome.  We find it’s a good way of meeting informally for support and encouragement.  If you’d like to know more, please do phone Michael or Elspeth on 863293.

Wednesday Home Group

We restart the Home Group on Wednesday 3rd October, 2.30pm, at St Leu.

After a bit of discussion we have decided to meet monthly on the first Wednesday of the month, but weekly during Advent and Lent. Rather than chat about the previous week’s sermon we will aim for a more prepared Bible Study period. In October Charles will focus on Collects and Thomas Cranmer and in November John will look at Saint’s Days, especially St Aidan. For our Advent meetings we are looking at a very recently published book by Tom Wright called ‘Advent for Everyone’. A journey through Luke.

If you want to know more about this and perhaps would like to join us, please ring John on 07989 057737.
