Readers practice in church Tuesday 14th August at 2 pm, and Monday 20th August 10.30 am.

Thank you to everyone for their best wishes and support in the lead up to our wedding. We would like to invite the congregation to join us for the ceremony at 3pm on Saturday 18th August. Anna & Lloyd

There will be no Taize service on Sunday 16th September as we are all invited to Canterbury Cathedral to see John Cox receive his certificate of ‘Reader Emeritus’ which he will receive from the Bishop in recognition of his many years service. He has finally decided to retire from being a Reader but will continue to lead the occasional Taize and Choral Evensong Service. My thanks go to John for his support and help to me over the past two years. Rev Jan

 Friends of Kent Churches

Ride+Stride – for Churches on Saturday, 8th September, 10.00 am to 6.00 pm

As in the past our Church will be open all day to welcome riders and walkers from all over Kent and the rota for stewards is in Church as from today.  Please sign up for an hour if you can – it is important that people are on duty to complete participants’ sponsor forms and register their visit.

I have all the information and sponsor forms now for those who would like to take part by cycling or walking (or running!) to raise money for St. Peters and The Friends of Kent Churches (50/50 split).  It would be good if we had one or two new participants this year – healthy exercise and interesting places to visit! I hope I will hear from our trusty, stalwart regulars soon too. Sally Wood – telephone 01843 862058

 Monday @ 7.

Our next event is tomorrow Monday 13th August in the Vicarage garden, for our American Supper.  Everyone has now told me what they are bringing to eat, it all sounds good to me! Our September event is a meal at the Captain Digby, on Monday 10th September at 7pm.  We will all be together on the same table.  Because they are doing this for us, they require a deposit of £5 per person.  If possible, we will collect this on the 13th August, but if not I need it by 26th August please. Any queries, phone me Marion Brown on 604524, or email   Thank you.

Dates for your diary…

9 September – 11am Broadstairs and St Peters Town Council Civic Service (at St Peter’s Church) NO 9.30 service on this Sunday.

18 September – 7pm Deanery Confirmation service (at St Peter’s Church).

 Garden of Remembrance.

We have sent a faculty application for a number of improvements to the Garden. There are notices up in church summarising the improvements, and our full application, together with a number of photographs are available to view in the Parish Office (in a folder by the photocopier). If anyone would like to discuss the plans, please speak to either Don, Richard, or Rev’d Jan.

Thanet Big Bus Conversation.

The 56 bus that serves areas of Broadstairs and St. Peter’s is under threat due to a proposal to cut its subsidy from Kent County Council. A public meeting to be attended by Mike Whiting, KCC Cabinet member for Transport, is being held on Thursday August 30th at 2.30pm in the GAP Project Auditorium, Queen’s Road, Broadstairs when bus users can ask questions about this vital service.
Further information can be obtained from Jenny Matterface on 07785 966666.
