Is a former member of this Church, and her husband was a former Reader here until his death. Margaret would like visit St Peter’s again and would like to stay in the village. She is in her 80’s but does not need care, although she cannot walk great distances. Could someone please host Margaret? If you are able to help please speak to Pam Hancock for further details.
Thanet Food Link.
As we head into the summer months we are finding that the food bank is generally quite low on stock while the needs of the people remain high. So any non-perishable food would be a great help, thank you.

Impact England 2018 – inter-church week of mission 29th July – 5th August.
We need people to make and serve food and to be on car park duty at St Georges School, and have welcoming people who can smile and give directions etc. Those with a bit more energy can be involved in messy church, the sports camps and community projects. Twelve of us enjoyed a lovely afternoon at Mount Ephraim Gardens. followed by tea and cake, last Wednesday. Our next event is on Monday 13th August in the vicarage garden for our American Supper. We will be asking all members to bring either a savoury or sweet dish, so please start to think what you can bring. Summer Party and Music Night
The disco party, which took place in the Church hall on Saturday 7th July, was very successful. The music was exclusively from the 50s, 60s and 70s and attracted a very different (i.e. older) audience from the usual crowd. They had a great time and filled the dance floor almost from the beginning of the evening. We raised £269.00 from ticket sales and the raffle. However, The Calders (who ran the show for us) have since told me that a bucket collection at their place of work has increased this total to £538.00! Many thanks are due to all who took part and helped during the evening.
‘Sing Along to the Forties’ Night
Arrangements for the ‘Sing Along to the Forties’ night booked for 25th August are advancing fast. The Calders, who are arranging this event themselves and have hired the Church Hall in their own name, do not intend it to involve dancing but instead plan it to be a ‘concert’ style occasion (so, sorry, but no Jitterbugging this time!). Tickets are priced at £8.00, of which £3.00 will go to St. Peters Church. There are indications that this is likely to be a very popular event so – book early to avoid disappointment!
Incidentally, the “What’s on Thanet” section of the latest Thanet Community Ad magazine advertises this event as the Glen Miller/Big Band Night” and wrongly states that tickets are £5.00 each. It also erroneously refers to dancing. I shall be contacting the editor as soon as possible to point out these errors but, if anyone should ask, the price is £8.00 per ticket as stated on the advertising posters. The magazine also refers to a St. Peter’s Indoor Boot Fair, to take place on 18th August. However this IBF was cancelled some time ago.
