Friends AGM

The AGM of the Friends of St Peter and St Andrew’s Churches is to be held tomorrow Monday, 2nd July, at St Peter’s Church Hall, starting at 7 pm. Thanking you in anticipation, Maureen Daley, Secretary.

There was a great response to my request for volunteers to sponsor or stitch a kneeler such that the small ones are now all spoken for but donations of any amount, large or small, are still required towards the long kneeler. These donations will be acknowledged on the back of the kneeler, as for the smaller ones. Cheques should be made payable to St. Peter’s PCC and can be left at the office. Many thanks for your support, Pauline Osborne.

Thanet Food Link.

As we head into the summer months we are finding that the food bank is generally quite low on stock while the needs of the people remain high. So any non-perishable food would be a great help, thank you.

Monday @ 7.

We are going to Mount Ephraim Gardens on Wednesday 11 July, PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF DATE.  We will meet at 2pm in the car park, and tea will be served in a separate room at 3.30pm.  I need to know whether you are coming, OR NOT, by today Sunday 1st July. We need to car share for this, so please offer a seat to someone if you are able. Please contact Marion at Tel 604524 or email   Thank you.

Holiday Club Upton School 25th-27th July (Morning & Afternoon); Family Fun Day: Saturday 28th July.

We need lots of people to be a part of the team: availability & willingness are the key attributes we need: there will be something that everyone can help with. If you can help, please contact Maggie Paddison:  Thank you. Rev Jan

Impact England 2018 – inter-church week of mission 29th July – 5th August.

We need people to make and serve food and to be on car park duty at St Georges School, and have welcoming people who can smile and give directions etc. etc. Those with a bit more energy can be involved in messy church, the sports camps and community projects.
There will be a more detailed meeting on Mon 2nd July 7.30pm at Elim Oasis Church so please do come along and this will be open to all. For more information contact Rev. Alan Osborn Pastor at Elim Oasis Church

Summer Fete

May I thank all of you who helped in any way to make our Summer Fete such a huge success. That goes to our dedicated team of helpers, our corporate supporters for prizes and vouchers and our wonderful public who supported us and spent their money with us.

What a result.

The Summer Disco Party – 7th July

This year’s Summer Disco Party will be a bit different from the usual events as it will feature mainly 50s, 60s and 70s music. If, like me, you can remember the days of huge flares, platform shoes, mini skirts, dazzling shirts in unwise colours, ‘kipper’ ties and long, bushy hair (ah… those were the days!) this might be for you. Tickets for the Summer Disco Party will soon be available from the Parish office so, come along to recall some of those memorable moments from forty years ago, bring a friend and help raise funds for the Garden of Remembrance into the bargain. See you there!

The Glenn Miller Evening

On 25th August we are trying something new – a Big Band night starring Glenn Miller (not the real one, of course!!). We are still finalising all the details with the people who will be running the show but it will have a distinct World War 2 theme, featuring the music of the day, a singer, and you might even see a few soldiers here and there. If you are interested, put the date in your diary. (By the way, can anyone here still do the Jitterbug?!!).

   Dates for your diary…

9 September – 11am Broadstairs and St Peters Town Council Civic Service (at St Peter’s Church) NO 9.30 service on this Sunday.

18 September – 7pm Deanery Confirmation service (at St Peter’s Church).

Monday Home Group 2:30 pm at 92 Dumpton Park Drive, Broadstairs CT10 1RL

We meet together tomorrow to reflect for about an hour on different aspects of the Bible Readings heard in church the previous day, and then conclude with fellowship over a cup of tea. Please feel free to join us at Elspeth and Michael’s home.  For more details, do phone us on 01843 863293.  NB After tomorrow (2nd), we plan to take a summer break, resuming in September (date to be notified)

We are now taking a break for the summer months. Please watch this space about the future of this Home Group.

We are always SO grateful for the cash donations given

each week at services.

If you are a tax payer it would be an even greater benefit

if you could put your donation in a completed yellow

Gift Aid envelope so that we can recover the extra 25p
