THANK YOU… to everyone who helped to make the church look so good for Christmas; the flower arrangers and cleaners; those who worked hard at the music and the Bell Ringers; prepared for and cleared up after different services; those who read and prayed and served and administered the chalices; it is all much appreciated. Rev Jan
The Social Committee invites you to a Twelfth Night Party on Saturday the 6th January 2018, to be held in the Church Hall, 6-30 for 7pm. There will be mulled cider on arrival. The menu will be fresh salmon and vegetables with a choice of desserts. Please feel free to bring your own wine. A vegetarian option will be available. Please note any dietary requirements on the sheet in the office. There will be entertainment after the meal. Tickets are now available price £9. Please ring Rev Jan if you would like a ticket and she will pass your details on to the office once it re opens in January.
Monday at 7. Our New Year’s Party is on Saturday, January 13th at 21 Fig Tree Road at 7 for 7.30 pm. Please let Marion, ( or 01843 604524), know if you are able to bring a contribution to the food.
Many thanks again to all those who so generously contributed Christmas bits and pieces for the Christmas stall at the recent fair. It raised over £250 so I have decided that I would like to do something similar next year. Therefore this is another appeal for anything Christmassy that I can store and make use of next year. It’s an ideal time now to have a bit of a sort out. I can arrange to collect any items if necessary. Thank you, Sue Barker (07887 361249).
Christmas Cards The card making group are grateful to those who have donated the fronts of birthday cards and cellophane bags. After Christmas if you have any suitable card fronts with small designs on them please donate them via the church office. We will continue to need your donations of birthday and other card fronts. Many thanks for your continuing support. Jan Gee.
Lady Chapel We will shortly be plastering the wall in the Lady Chapel, and then the floor will be repaired and painted. We have applied for a faculty to remove the sidesmans station and cupboard on the left of the door and a new book storage cupboard to be built on the right of the door, thus opening up the entrance to the church. Sally Wood has researched new chairs and two samples have been on view for some weeks now. Twenty of these will be needed – 10 with arms, and 10 without. The cost to include book rests and commemorative plaques is £100 each, and we are hoping members of the congregation will donate one or more chairs in memory of a loved one. If you are interested please discuss your requirements with Sally (01843 862058) and she will explain the next step. Thank you, Richard Baker Chair Fabric Committee.

Church Website. www.stpeterinthanet.org.uk Over 2,500 ‘hits’ have been recorded for our new site since it was set up in November and Facebook (St Peter Church Broadstairs) is taking off too. Do take a look at the website with new photos of Sprats, the Lunch Club Christmas Lunch and The Christmas Tree Festival, to name but a few. The events for 2018 are also listed for your new diary.
OFFICE of HMRC
“Even if you do always volunteer to donate the meat for the Lunch Club,
you can’t claim them all as dependents! “
“LOOSE” Change Home collection boxes
Another big THANK YOU to all who continue to support this scheme. So far this year, very quietly, almost £1,000 has been received for fund raising from this source and the overall total is just short of £5,500. Can I encourage you to keep filling your boxes and emptying them in the office for me to count. I have a few spare boxes if anyone wants to start. Also (Cheekily) what better way to get rid of your old £1 coins to a worthwhile cause – improving your own Church buildings. Just put them in your box or if you don’t have one hand them into the office. I can then Bank them to credit the FR a/c. Many thanks Don B.
Monday Home Group
We resume meeting weekly at 2:30 pm on Mondays (starting on 15th January) at the home of Elspeth and Michael Cooke (92 Dumpton Park Drive, Broadstairs). We shall be reflecting on the Bible Readings heard in church the previous day. Anyone is welcome to join us, even for a one-off. If you want to know more, do phone us on 863293.
Wednesday Home Group
The Wednesday Home Group is now taking a Christmas break until January 10th when we will meet to discuss the previous Sunday’s sermon (or perhaps think about resolutions!).
