OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD – Samaritan’s Purse, Shoebox gifts Our thanks to everyone who gave so generously when Karen Levitt spoke quite passionately about this project in her capacity as official logistics Co-Ordinator. We’re pleased to say that the collection raised £202.23 which enabled us to send off a donation of £205 to this worthy cause. The shoeboxes will soon be on the way to Asia. Robin Page Treasurer.
FREE BOOKLET ”Advent readings 2017”- is a gift for you as we enter into the season of Advent. A time of reflection and waiting this booklet starts on the 3rd December & takes us through to Christmas Day with readings and reflections for you to meditate upon. I hope this year you will all consider this special time and take a booklet. THEY CAN BE FOUND IN A BASKET AS YOU ENTER CHURCH WHERE THE SIDEPERSONS STAND NEAR THE SOUTH DOOR.
Please support the Thanet Winter Shelter for the homeless which begins this year on December 1st. On Sunday, December 3rd I will collect any donations of warm items such as gloves, scarves etc. that you are able to bring. Each week I will suggest items to bring but I will take anything that you give. The only item which is not needed is toothpaste. I will take your gifts to the Salvation Army, who arrange to supply the shelter. A number of churches provide a church hall on a rota basis. The shelter provides washing facilities, a hot evening meal and breakfast and a bed for the night. Thank you, June.
STEWARDSHIP – Will all those that give regularly under the ENVELOPE SCHEME note that your new box is ready for collection for the coming year by the South Door as you come into Church. Thank you – Caren Bumpstead. Stewardship Sec.

New Church Website. Have you ‘visited’ our new website? This is well underway now at www.stpeterinthanet.org.uk
It’s linked to Facebook (FB), includes videos on YouTube and a full Calendar facility, detailing all events notified to the Church. Joint webmasters are Trevor Hogben and Patrick Dunn. Please visit it on a regular basis and if you are on FB, support our Church by ‘liking’ our posts.
On Line shopping. It has been a great disappointment that so few who shop on-line have registered with the On the line Giving systems which we have arranged especially for St Peter’s using Give as you live Register with Give as you live
or with Easy Funding Register with EasyFunding
The combination of both companies, covers nearly all the usual websites used by the public for on-line shopping e.g. travel, major retailers and hotels. For each transaction, St Peter’s stands to gain a small % of the purchase price at NO EXTRA EXPENSE TO THE BUYER. The system is safe, caters for charities and is easy to use, but at the moment only about 10 of us participate, so we are wasting an excellent fundraising asset!
If you shop on line; please do it through these two websites!

Monday Home Group
We meet weekly on Mondays at 2:30 pm at the home of Elspeth & Michael Cooke (92 Dumpton Park Drive). Currently, for about an hour we study together aspects of the Bible Readings heard in church the previous day. Advance Notice: In December, we shall be drawing on readings, music and pictures to help us reflect quietly on some of the great themes of Advent. We welcome anyone who’d like to join us for times of stillness in what can otherwise seem a very busy season. If you’d like to know more, do phone us on 863293.
Wednesday Home Group
We are following the Advent Course, “So what are you waiting for?” Meeting as usual at 2.30 at St Leu, Vicarage Street. With Lots of discussion, and tea and biscuits to follow. John Cox.
