St Peters News Sheet 19.11.17

The collection at Sunday’s 9.30 service will be going to Operation Christmas Child. We welcome Karen Levitt – the official logistics Co Ordinator for Christmas Child who will be speaking to us.

STEWARDSHIP – Will all those that give regularly under the ENVELOPE SCHEME note that your new box is ready for collection for the coming year by the South Door as you come into Church. Thankyou – Caren Bumpstead. Stewardship Sec.

POSTCARDS for MAF. Thank you to everyone who donated used, old and new postcards. A total of 1184 cards have been taken to Mission Aviation Fellowship from St Peter’s and St Andrew’s Churches. The collection will be ongoing throughout the year in the MAF Box on the table by the South Door.

CHRISTMAS UNWRAPPED will be held this year for the Year 6 children of St.Peter’s Juniors on the afternoon of Friday 8th December and Bromstone primary school on the morning of Thursday 7th December. In total 165 children will be going to St Peter’s Baptist Church to explore the true meaning of Christmas, Jesus’ birth!

Can you help? We need everything from Tea & Coffee making and Mince Pie making to general welcoming and hosting duties. It would be great if people can join us from each of the churches as it is likely that some of these children we may have already met through the recent Messy Church.

If you can help please let me know by Sunday 26th November. Rev Jan

LOOSE” Change Home collection boxes
Another big THANK YOU to all who continue to support this scheme. So far this year, very quietly, almost £1,000 has been received for fund raising from this source and the overall total is just short of £5,500. Can I encourage you to keep filling your boxes and emptying them in the office for me to count. I have a few spare boxes if anyone wants to start. Also (Cheekily) what better way to get rid of your old £1 coins to a worthwhile cause – improving your own Church buildings. Just put them in your box or if you don’t have one hand them into the office. I can then Bank them to credit the FR a/c. Many thanks Don B.

News Sheet for Sunday 19 November 2017
(Details of Worship and Services in separate white pew sheet)
Monday Home Group
We meet weekly on Mondays at 2:30 pm at the home of Elspeth & Michael Cooke (92 Dumpton Park Drive). Currently, for about an hour we study together aspects of the Bible Readings heard in church the previous day. Advance Notice: In December, we shall be drawing on readings, music and pictures to help us reflect quietly on some of the great themes of Advent. We welcome anyone who’d like to join us for times of stillness in what can otherwise seem a very busy season. If you’d like to know more, do phone us on 863293.

Wednesday Home Group
This coming Wednesday we start our Advent Course, “So what are you waiting for?” We meet as usual at 2.30 at St Leu, Vicarage Street.
Regulars are asked to read both the Introduction and the notes for Session 1 (Go with haste) before coming, preferably that morning if possible. We could still accommodate one or two more, but would like to know in advance so that I can get more booklets. See me this morning! John Cox.
Lots of discussion, and tea and biscuits to follow.

NB. Information for the News Sheet for Sunday 26 November2017 to the
Parish Office please by 10.00 am Thursday 23 November 2017.
